We stayed in 410 and it hadn't been updated since the 70's. The carpet was filthy. My mother-in-law went and bought cleaning products and cleaned the cabin before she would unpack and had the bleach the toilet. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. Whilst we were unhappy with the cabin, the restaurant, pool, play gym and other site facilities were great and we couldn't fault them. Also, every staff member, particularly the chef and the waiter in the on site cafe, were great. The price should reflect the low standard of the accommodation but if the cabins were cleaned and updated, we would stay again.
We have been to Gurnard Pines a number of times of the years for its location and the site facilities, but sadly this year was very disappointing with the location being the main reason for still enjoying it. Go Active had been stopped, the pools and gym had been taken over by a franchise and so you had to also pay to use the gym. There was no reception available after 5:30pm! This had been replaced with a Spar! And the Lodge we booked was very dirty and things like the DVD player weren't working (annoying as the weather was so bad). I did complain and did get a small refund, but what few staff there were, were struggling and demotivated as I was advised that Gurnard Pines was to close down for good the week after we were leaving? When staff were around they were helpful, but it was an awful shame to see how run down it had become from previous years. Gurnard Pines was a lovely holiday place for families who didn't want the restrictions of a hotel, but wanted some fun facilities without going to a holiday campsite. My family would go back if only for the location and the use of the indoor pool and gym, however the accommodation would have to be clean and the prices would have to reflect its much reduced attraction as a family holiday venue.
The cabin was nice . The park was in need of a lot of work and was very disappointing when we first pulled up.
The kids enjoyed it and, apart from keys being in wrong place, we had a good time. Other peoples Bar-B-Ques made a lot of smoke on warm evenings.
Very well organise, very good value for money.
I'm afraid we were very unhappy with the condition of our lodge. It needed a complete makeover. The beds were disgusting, there were no mattress covers on any of the beds and the mattresses were stained. The sheets and duvet covers didn't fit properly and the beds weren't made properly when we arrived. The carpets were dirty and stained and there was an iron mark on the carpet that looked as though it had been there for years. We saw no staff at any point, nobody came to see if we were ok and there was nobody to greet us when we arrived. The facilities, swimming pool, children's soft play area and shop were excellent but I would not recommend this holiday to anybody.
Resort unwelcome and tired. The lodge we found to be also needed cleaning and the decor in need of updating. would not recommend.
Good Morning, I have been meaning to write for a few days but as run my own business so have been tied up. Last year we stayed in a bungalow which was quite clean, upset play park was out of order as advertised and long wait at snack bar. Swimming was great and the location. This year we went for the lodge and we were disappointed. Carpets all stained in lounge. Pubic hairs on tiles in bath, so did not use (showered at swimming in evening) I had to clean toilets as seats and base all orange, and bedside tables still had coffee stains on which again I cleaned, the balcony area was full of cob webs and again very dirty. Nothing to light cooker with and no dishwasher which was not a problem but when it said bring dishwasher tablets and I did as we had a dishwasher last year, so I had to go and get washing up liquid. Beds were very hard and children's mattress's dirty and stained no mattress protectors. We were all so disappointed. The restaurant was very good and although the waiter was very busy on his own, he was so polite and the food was very good. I doubt we will come again. My husband complained to the office on departure and was told the cleaners are on a warning! By the way the Spar shop is a great idea.
Lodge covered in cobwebs, broken chairs and beds
Accommodation very dirty and shabby. Would not return! Only facility that was Ok was the indoor play area.
This was our second visit here and was sorry to they will not be doing holidays next year
Unfortunately the accommodation is now run down, tired and unclean. Such a sham as the leisure club and surrounding area is lovely. Needs a massive refurb. We are regulars but will not return next year. Xx
There are a lot of big empty rooms that they could put to use for entertainment in the evenings instead of using the restaurant. We reported on arrival that the balcony door was not locked and that the key had broken in the lock and the lock on the bathroom did not work it took 3 days for someone to come a d sort it we had a small child with us. It could be a really good camp if they invested lightening in it and used what is there to its full potential
We had a great long weekend at gurnard pines enjoyed the pool and gym would go again.
When we arrived it was noted that a drain was leaking and running around the base of our log cabin. It was evident that it had been leaking for some time, it was reported to reception straight away and a blockage lower down was remove and a new pipe inserted.
The repairmen advised that this had been a problem for some time. The inside and outside of the cabins were covered in cob webs ( what do the cleaners do)? When a concern was reported, it was rectified on a timely basis. Overall the cabins were tired and in need of some refurbishment.
