When we arrived it was noted that a drain was leaking and running around the base of our log cabin. It was evident that it had been leaking for some time, it was reported to reception straight away and a blockage lower down was remove and a new pipe inserted.
The repairmen advised that this had been a problem for some time. The inside and outside of the cabins were covered in cob webs ( what do the cleaners do)? When a concern was reported, it was rectified on a timely basis. Overall the cabins were tired and in need of some refurbishment.
staff were very help, although the overall look of the holiday park looked like a run down council estate.
The site would benefit from TLC, it has the potential to become a lovely holiday site. I recommend a laundry room, childrens play area, slides, swings etc and night entertainment.
Had a fantastic and relaxing time would recommend to anyone
Was a little disappointed in the fact this is more a residential park than holiday park . We were told that it is turning residential and that soon there would be no holiday let's . If as a family we wanted to go to comedy night we had to pay so no holiday entertainment .
The site needs modernising and the chalet some TLC however a great location quiet and a great place to explore the Isle of Wight
When we first arrived we were very disappointed as it looked really desolate and like something out of hi de hi, very old fashioned and dated plus there the grounds could have been better maintained with at least some flower beds, even the reception was grotty and tired looking. Thankfully we had chosen one of the bungalows, I am not sure we wouldn't have turned around and gone elsewhere if we had booked one of the other types of accommodation. Basically Gurnard Pines is for the retired as most of the accommodation was owner occupied by the elderly, why I am not sure, as the facilities on offer are for sporty people or young children with the swimming pool and monkey mansion, which by the way was really good except it closed too early at 5 pm!
I enjoyed my time at the camp. However, there was little in the way of facilities. This was probably because this site ceases to be a camp from September. Staff really friendly and a good base for exploring the island.
The villa we stayed in was beautiful and clean.
The surrounding of the complex is beautiful, but it is not for children as there is not much to do apart from swimming and monkey mansion.
I think this is a beautiful and quite location for couples and the older generation.
The holiday home was clean and beds ready made when we arrived. Lots of facilities on site, although during our stay the outdoor pool was not open. Restaurant had plenty to choose from and the chef was happy to vary some things, also pleased that gluten free bread was available with the ploughmans. The hot tub with our holiday home was well used during our stay and water/chlorine levels were tested while we were there.Staff were pleasant and happy to help. All in all pleased with our stay, site wasn't overly busy and was a nice relaxed atmosphere. If I could suggest one improvement it would be to invest in new mattresses to ensure guests have a comfortable nights sleep.
Lovely location, lodge was spacious, clean and tidy. Would definitely stay again
We was unaware that we had to pay for soft play facilities for the children or that the pool was owned separately so you could not always access it. The chalets were lacking in basic mantinence. Gate missing from verander, toilet seat damaged and on the floor when we arrived (reported but still was not fixed), verander handrail falling off (this was reported and they put a few temporary screws in), hardly any kitchen utensils and no draining rack (asked a member of staff and the response was 'yeah we stopped providing them because they get nicked'). Overall fine for just a place to put your head down for the night on a very uncomfort able bed but bring all your own cutlery and utensils for kitchen and be prepared to pay for soft play and follow a time table for swimming. Also if children have armbands they can only use quarter of the pool! Overall was very disappointed and would not stay again.
Was a little disappointed that their was no kids club!! Also didn't realise that the site was mostly residential so not really an opportunity for my children to make friends. The outside of the lodge was absolutely covered with cobwebs and had been washed that season for sure.
We had a lovely stay at Gurnard Pines. The place has had a few owners in recent years but the new owners are clearly doing everything they can to make the place a very high standard. The swimming pool and changing area in particular were especially nice-far warmer and cleaner than anywhere else we have stayed. The lack of children's entertainment was frustrating but we were told this will be in place soon.
Really disappointed after travelling all day. I have stayed at the resort in the past about four years ago which is why I booked to go again. When we arrived it looks very tired & sad. We get into the bungalow to discover one towel each! No hand towels but these could be purchased at an extra cost. The beds are awful no mattres protectors & tatty pillows. Also the cooker fridge needed cleaning. We took my baby grandson so I ordered a high chair & cot & which were also old & tired. Overall I feel unless improvements are made I will not stay there again.
