Directions need to be better as we went past lodges several times in the dark before noticing the very small sign on the gate! Lodges look very tired on outside but are lovely when inside. Think more outside lights are advisable, as extremely dark when arriving back in late evening in October.
Would probably stay again, as we like the area and amenities near by. If I go again, I would take my own towels though as the ones supplied are tiny! Think they could of worded the "rules" a bit better, as how they were written put my back up straight away.
Stayed at a few lodges but this one has the most rules, most of which were common sense and didn't really need spelling out!

I put helpfulness of staff as low because we didn't see any whilst we were there and had no need for any.

Had a lovely short break at Portmile Lodges, only 8 lodges so a quiet place to stay. Some road noise which did not worry us in anyway at anytime. Lodge was spotless and everything we needed was provided. Would definitely love to return to Portmile Lodges.
Thoroughly enjoyed out stay, ideal for visiting Torquay,Exeter,Exmouth,Lyme Regis,
would come here again if wanting to stay in the area.
Love the fact the park is small and there are no facilities. Some people may not like
the fact of the main road close by,but no noise problem for us,and it was very convenient
for access to places to visit. Also Sainsbury's down the close by was extremely useful.

Lovely site although a bit expensive as there were no facilities other than the hot tub. It was extremely clean with a lovely outlook. Shame it was on the main road.
Absolutely amazing! The most perfect holiday we have had in the UK! The lodges are beautiful and fully equiped, the surroundings are out of this world! Hot tub was a massive bonus! Cannot wait to go back.

Excellent accommodation, and fully equipped with everything possibly needed to provide an easy and comfortable stay (hot tub is a must;). The facilities are extremely clean and well maintained, with lovely host's . It was an ideal location to enjoy the 'Great English Riviera. My wife and i stayed for 4 nights with our 3 children and mother in law!! We visited Babacoombe model village, Paignton Zoo, Woodlands Adventure Park :), plus Torquay and a couple of beaches (even saw a seal in the sea at Oddiscombe beach). The coastal road does become very familiar by the 3rd day, but it is a lovely drive in its self.

These lodges are located on a busy, noisy road. There is traffic noise throughout the night, enough to wake you up.
The cockerel started at the first sign of light. 5.39 was not a good time.
The owners are rude. The mother of the owner completely ignored us once we'd arrived. The son told us their dog will bite my sons if they go near it.
The list of rules is endless.
Overall, there is no way I'd stay at Portmile again.

Portmile Lodges site very quiet. A maintenance problem we had was fixed straight away. You do need a car to get anywhere, as road is too busy to walk on. Local facilities very good. Lovely pub and café nearby.

Well maintained lodge in beautiful surroundings. Not easy to locate but, once found, the proximity of the fairly busy road was never a problem as trees and bushes 'muffled' any noise. Peaceful location, only a short distance from Dawlish Warren and other villages, it absolutely fitted the bill for a quiet break for the two of us, so much so that we extended our stay to 9 nights - and would have stayed longer if we had been able to.
very nice small, quiet and private setting. it helped checking the location access on google earth before going.

Excellent time was had, very clean and lovely furnishings . Central Heating worked great, but hot water for showers and bath could have been warmer. Speaking of hot, the hot tub was great with stunning views .

On a busy road by day but little noise at night, close to large super market ( sainsburys ) 1/2 a mile , two local pubs close by at cockwood harbour , both very good for food but do book for evenings . Bus service excellent stops just up road stops outside pubs & runs till midnight , or a lovely walk on a light evening. The lodge is large with every thing you need to have a good holiday , bedding and beds very good.
