The place was not terrible but it wasn't great either.
To start with they require a cash only deposit on arrival (why not just place a credit card hold as damage deposit)
When we arrived at the park there was a gate requiring a code to enter. There was a barely visible message to call the office for the code, which could no be seen until you are too close to the gate to turn around easily. This could have been given to us prior to arrival with the directions. ( not sure what you do if arriving after hours.) I was also somewhat perturbed by the very casual attitude of the office on collecting the key they called us into a back office and continued their conversation whilst dealing with us.
The actual accommodation was clean enough with all that you need and a spacious living area. It could use a little sprucing up, such as replacing the outdoor chairs which were torn, a picture or two on the walls and cleaning the area about the hot tub where there were cigarette butts, beer bottle tops and a mat which was covered in green gunk. I believe some other reviews have mentioned the cold hot tub on the first night (true).
The twin beds were very uncomfortable with springs poking through and the double beds were not great either.
There were also a couple of safety concerns such as an outside light without a top (bulb exposed to the elements, we found the cap in a closet, and there was a exposed live outlet next to the hot tub. We reported the safety issues by voice message but nothing was done whilst we were there.
The site is quiet and peaceful, mostly because there were only 2-3 holiday homes in our area and lots of empty concrete pads.
We got a last minute discount and had a but would have been disappointed had we paid full price. The accommodation is not really luxury.

I had a lovely stay in the retreat spa lodge with 5 of my friends. The kitchen was well equipped and we had plenty of room for the 6 of us. The hot tub was lovely, just needed to be a little warmer on the first night but we had been warned of this in the information provided before our stay. The beds were comfortable and we had a really enjoyable stay. There is one local pub in the village around a 10-15 min walk. Advisable to book if you would like to eat their as it is very popular. Definately recommend to stay here again.

Had a great time, would defo come back. Only slight downside was that the hot tub was round the back of the lodge and it was November so really cold getting to the lodge. Temperature not alway hot for hot tube but overall great.

Location between Oakham and Melton Mowbray was ideal.

The lodge was large and well equipped but the site seemed like it was being run down. There were absolutely no countryside views like the description stated and we never saw any staff. There were things broken in the lodge and generally a sense that it was going to close down so they weren't bothered. The bed was very uncomfortable and we left a day early as we couldn't stand it any longer.

Lodge was very clean. Furniture old and cushions to settee ripped. Hot tub stuck round the back of the lodge. Did not use it much because of that. Much prefer the hot tub on the verandah.

Beds very uncomfortable, as was the sofa, which was past its best and needs replacing.
The contents of the dustbin from the previous occupier had been left on the veranda, which after 2 days I put in the wheelie bin myself. There was also the remnants of a mouldy loaf of bread in the bread bin.
There was a set of used towels hanging on the back of the bathroom door, left from the previous occupier that had not been removed.
There were only three tea plates in the lodge, although there was plenty of other crockery and cutlery.
The hot tub, although working, looks very old with an ill fitting broken cover on it. There was debris from the trees etc. floating in the hot tub and didn't look that clean.
Mainly because of the very uncomfortable beds, we cut our holiday short and went home early. The park operator didn't even ask us why we were leaving early or if we had had a nice stay. Probably frightened to ask. Gave us back the security deposit without even checking the lodge.
