amazing holiday, best entertainment, friendly, community feel, booking again !
A great place for a young family. Good location with some fab beaches to explore nearby
The lodge itself was lovely and although not 'luxurious' was more than ample and a great base from which we did trips to Newcastle, Berwick, Alnwick & Edinburgh. Thurston Manor was unfortunately a big disappointment.
The facilities were limited and the little that was there was in great need of renewal / upgrading.
The playpark and facilities for the kids in central building were awful.
Loved our lodge right on the lake not sure I would have enjoyed being closer to the main centre as it was very busy but the lakeside lodge was really beautiful and peaceful. Would definitely go back.
I took my granddaughter to the swimming pool and I asked the staff member if we could have a ball to play with and his reply was no it's to early, this was at 9.45am and we were rtf he only 2 people in the pool at this time, his manner was abrupt, this happened on 2 occasions, myself and my husband went on this weekend holiday with the family to potentially buying a caravan, but will not recommended this site to vCard anyone
Lovely site caravan top quality.
We were lucky enough to get a lodge right beside the lake which was great entertainment for my 1 year old.
The lodge was spacious and clean, with everything we needed. Close proximity to various beaches and as its just off the A1, very easy to get to. If I had one small issue, it would be the pool and it's setup.
overall a nice break and we would probably go back.
really great place
Our second visit to Thurston Manor was as enjoyable as the first time. Lodge very comfortable and an ideal place to relax and unwind. Peaceful surroundings in the Glen, swans and ducks on pond lovely to watch. Bar/restaurant very friendly, food good. Would certainly return.
This is our fourth visit to a lodge in the Glen and again enjoyed our stay, but we were a little disappointed by lower than expected quality of accommodation, especially as it was one of the newer models. Our disappointment is mainly related to the standard of finish. For example; guttering not finished, which flooded the decking right outside the door, it froze over night and made it dangerous. The main footpath flooded leaving deep water and thick silt to wade through. Internal finish such as doors swinging open, hall light shade melted and fell off, shower was leaking, no slip proof shower mat and less items in the usual welcome pack. However, the facilities, location and staff offered us an excellent place to stay for our short break and will return, but snagging work needs to improve.
Found the resort and facilities excellent - highly recommend. Deluxe lodge was very spacious, clean, and situated in a quiet glen.
Heating didn't work, even after it was looked at by staff. However we just used the electric fire, costly but effective.
We had a great time and will definately be back.
Not enough cups glasses plates for 6 people in the caravan. No brooms or hoovers. Very dusty and cobwebs.
I would not stay at Thurston Manor again, as I did not like walking up the road from the lodge to reception, bar ect.. Although we did take advantage of the security service lifts at time. It was just to dangerous to walk my disabled son up and down.
