We arrived for Valentines weekend and was greeted by the owner at the secure gates, we drove up to the lodge in the most beautiful setting, a large lake surrounded by trees and the ground covered in snowdrops. The lodge was warm and cosy, it had everything we needed and we loved the welcoming tea tray also the flowers on the table. We didn't use our car very much as the bus service was excellent with the bus stop five minutes away. Tesco superstore was also very close which was ideal. The walk around the Lake was lovely, had we have taken our dogs it would have been perfect, no traffic to worry about as the only vehicles permitted are those used by the lodge occupants with a maximum speed limit of 10 mph. Only two miles from the city centre you would have thought the trains and traffic sounds would have caused a problem but they did not they were hardly noticeable and this made the place very secluded peaceful and relaxing. We will definitely be returning.
A little oasis just outside york.
Wonderful location , and will definitely be returning in the future!
SUPERB - would definitely go back again Neal and all the staff were lovely. The cottage is superb so well equipped, they even provided a xmas tree!
Nice location close to York and all ameneties. Some train noise but didnt cause any problems for us at all.
On arriving we were meet at the gate to be informed how to use it and asked not to drive more than 10 miles an hour about three times! Not the nicest of welcomes. The lodge was cold on arrival however looked nice. We were looking forward to a nice bath after our journey however the water was cold as the boiler had blown. It took an hour and a half to have this fixed bot great for the first evening!! When fixed you had enough got water to paddle in the bath very unimpressed. The lodge was adequate however no DVD and just basic TV no satellite. Shame you had to pay for wifi and no hair dryer!! Good location but we would stay elsewhere as the owner was not very welcoming.
we enjoyed our stay at lakeside, it was only a 2 mile pleasent walk into york.
We would definatley stay at the lodge in the summer but not october onwards. The lodge was very cold even though the heating was on.The electric rate was also too high, we spent just short of £7.00 in 2 days.
A great location for visiting York. A couple of minutes drive to a Tesco and another couple of minutes to the Park and Ride at Askham Bar.
Easy to get get to the lodges along A64 from A1.
Lodges themselves are comfortable and with great views of the lake. Even though it is surrounded by houses they are out of view of the lodges.
Lodges could do with a bit of updating but still good value for money.
Overall we loved our stay at York Lodges and will certainly go back.
This is the best way to visit York as hotels in York are expensive.
Beautiful and quiet.great to take dogs they have thought of everything from kennels to the doggy loo which is all in closed so they could have a little run and play safely
It was a very nice place. However there is a trainline right behind the lodges we stayed in and it was for too noisey on a night. Didn't get much sleep because of this.
The location of the lodges is great for quick access to the city centre and the lodges are well equipped and well maintained. The only minor issue we had was the noise from the railway line as it is very busy and quite loud, but you get used to it over time.
We like being able to go into York by bus and the close proximity to a supermarket.
We went in November site was nice and quiet. One thing we did notice was the railway line nearby, not really noisy just a rumble when the trains went by.
We had a lovely relaxing short break in a beautiful setting.
An excellent location and a very well run site with very helpful staff. It was our first visit and won't be the last..Well done to Neil and his team!
