This elegant stone-built semi-detached single-storey cottage is situated at Falstone Station. Along with the owner’s home it is one of only a few cottages at this location which was once part of the former Border Counties Railway line. The line has long gone but reminders of the route that linked England with Scotland are still there. It is only 520 yards from the local pub serving real ale and good food. Opposite the pub is a small tea roomshop in this pretty village of Falstone. The cottage has one double and one twin bedroom and sleeps four people in an elegant style. The underfloor heating will keep you comfortable whatever the time of year. The décor is contemporary and comfortable with a kitchen area that has everything you’ll need to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing.\nRailway Cuttings is situated inside the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park. Its lack of light pollution makes it one of the best areas in Britain to enjoy the sky at night. Use binoculars to marvel at the Milky Way enjoy the Northern Lights or perhaps you’ll be lucky and glimpse a spectacular meteor shower. For those who want to make the most of their ’Dark Sky’ stay a visit to the Kielder Observatory is a must but book ahead to guarantee a time that suits you best. One of the big attractions of holidaying in this area of rural Northumberland is the range of activities so close at hand. Its close proximity to Kielder Water makes it a must-visit for walkers sailors and cyclists. Nearby Leaplish has a swimming pool and spa open to visitors and the on-site pub and restaurant is handy for those wishing to make a day of it. And for those who just want to enjoy the countryside its south facing views overlook the North Tyne river and the nearby rolling hills. The historic town of Hexham is only 25 miles and Bellingham has lots of useful amenities such as a bank post office and shops and is only 9 miles away. The Northumberland Heritage Coast makes a great day out and is within easy driving distance so you can experience all parts of this unspoilt diverse county. Shop pub and restaurant 520 yards.\nRailway Cuttings can be booked together with The Left Luggage Office ref CC325019 10 yards away to accommodate up to 6 guests. Cottage really clean and well kept , wonderful welcome pack when we arrived for New Year stay. Really good Pub in the village café with a few items to buy , this was closed on our last visit . Very quiet location excellent for walks Lovely owners who live near by . Have booked to visit again in summer

We spent a long weekend in this perfectly set out property. Clean and fresh. Lovely welcome pack and lovely friendly owner. Not many shops on the doorstep but pubs and inns close by serving tasty meals. Very dark skies although we were unlucky with cloudy nights. Plenty of walks on offer and lots to do within 15 miles Loved it and will probably go back to it and would recommend it

Lovely cottage in a superb location. Particularly enjoyed the night skies on the first 2 clear nights. Also walking from cottage as well as driving for walks further afield.

Peaceful location just a couple of minutes out of the village where you will find a pleasant pub, tea rooms and post office. Lovely off road walk up to Kielder dam. Very well kitted out kitchen complete with an excellent welcome basket. Under floor heating which is a luxury. Did find it rather warm and had been asked not to alter the heating. The wet room could use a bigger panel shielding the actual shower to prevent towels on the towel rail getting damp. The "double" bed seemed to be a queen size and didn't allow much space. Net curtains would have been appreciated as a road runs past the bedrooms and at the front the other residents go past to the bin.

We had a great time at the cottage everything was first class. All the fixtures and fittings were lovely we had everything we needed, and Alex the owner was very helpful. I couldn't recommended it enough for a nice relaxing break.

We loved the Railway cuttings - so nice to have a place to stay that is not twee and cottagey but which is spotlessly clean with all modern amenities. The location is great - so close to Kielder lake and forest - just a shame there is only 1 pub/ food place in the village [food was OK] and no real shop - I guess that is modern rural life though and obviously no fault of the owners - other than that it would have been a 10 but you do have easy access to local areas and its so peaceful. It wasnt the cheapest but all round I would say pretty good value.

Great location, very nice comfortable property. The welcome basket was a nice touch, thank you. Just a shame about the weather

Lovely well equipped cottage. Comfy seating and beds. Lots of walks from the doorstep and a playpark for children in the village. If you are lucky to get a dark sky night it is amazing. Highly recommended.

A really lovely cottage , Alex the owner was really helpful and close at hand . The location was a bit too far out for us this visit , but would certainly book again. The village had a pub with excellent food /within walking distance/ and a nice café Grocery's you needed to go further afield

Despite the weather, we had a wonderful time. Cozy pubs and eating places, ospreys and many other birds to spot. Walks in the forest and along Hadrian's Wall with the dog. Relaxing break and a helpful host!
