Nestled in the hillside, Ladstock Hall has the most spectacular views across the valley towards the mighty Skiddaw range from its elevated location on the edge of Thornthwaite village. This Grade II listed building was originally the vicarage and then became a very grand Country House Hotel and a renowned venue for weddings. It has now been converted into several apartments and cottages, the standard of which is excellent. No.6 is a first floor apartment furnished and equipped throughout to appeal to the most discerning guests.

Thornthwaite lies 3 miles to the west of Keswick at the foot of Whinlatter and close to Bassenthwaite Lake. This area is great for mountain biking in Whinlatter Forest, and walking on the surrounding fells, and sailing or fishing on the lake. There are many walks to be enjoyed from the door as well as easy access to Newlands, Borrowdale and the Western Lakes. There is a bridle way immediately behind Ladstock Hall where you can walk to Braithwaite, a little over half a mile, which has a village shop, restaurant and three pubs each serving good food and real ale.

Beautiful and superbly equipped apartment in a beautiful location with local amenities really close. Only downside was being unable to park outside the apartment for loading and unloading

6 Ladstock Hall is a fabulous apartment with incredible breathtaking views over Mount Skiddaw. The property is generously equipped and tastefully decorated to a high standard. A car is pretty much essential, but then you are superbly placed to easily access all local attractions. The property is accessed via a double flight of fairly narrow stairs, so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues, on the plus side it raises you above the tree line for even better views. No major complaints at all, only issues to point out are the extremely creaky floorboards (especially in the hallway) which didn't bother us directly but we were constantly aware that the people below may hear us walking about. Also, the shower cubicle in the master bedroom en-suite is quite small. Admittedly I'm not the smallest person, but it did make me feel a bit like a magicians assistant when taking a shower - many a bashed elbow and knee!! However in contrast the bed is excellent, a comfortable mattress and luxurious bedding. We feel that the property is really excellent value for money, based on the quality and what else is available. We have no hesitation in recommending and are looking forward to a second stay.

We can’t stay away from this beautiful place. The apartment has everything you could want, and there is no better place to sit and enjoy the incredible views and wildlife. Just don’t book the weeks I want!

Lovely holiday apartment with superb views and good location with Keswick, Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwent Water on the doorstep. It is listed as luxury, however, having spent the previous week in a luxury let in Scotland by the same agency, there was no comparison. Towels had bleach stains and didn't smell fresh, bedding not luxurious, no little extras such as toiletries, no welcome pack and not even a tea bag! Cleanliness not up to scratch.
