A lovely place . Would come again. Would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

We had a great weekend at Acer House. The house was comfortable and spacious for 8 Adults, although when everyone wants a shower you need to put the immersion on! The kitchen was well equipped and the additional channels on the TV pleased our sports fans. It's a shame it's on a fairly busy main road, but that was really the only drawback and I'd imagine more of an issue if you wanted to sit outside in the summer.

Lovely place for a university reunion! Lovely rooms and spacious living areas! The host was very accommodating and welcoming. Could not recommend more!

We had a great week here and there was plenty of space to accommodate the 12 of us. Car parking was sufficient for the 5 cars we took to all be on the drive. Plenty of hot water. Good sized fridge freezer. Our washing dried quickly in the utility room which was warm from the heating system so not an issue for us that there was not tumble drier. We had 10 round the table with ease plus 2 high chairs. Owner responded quickly to any queries we had. We had a great week and would be happy to stay in the property again. Garden furniture good condition . Amazing views of countryside from back garden.

Acer House is very spacious, clean and good value for money. There are no shops on your doorstep but big supermarkets are a 5 min drive away and there is plenty to do with the family if you drive 15mins. We had some trouble with getting hot water, although there are lots of bathrooms and a couple of the showers worked fine. The kitchen was huge and well equipped. The top bedrooms got very hot and the blinds/curtains didn’t work well. Otherwise we had a very nice stay and the owner was very attentive before and during the stay. He was also flexible with check in and check out times which was appreciated.

We had a lovely weekend at Acer House. We had a party of 11 people and there was more than enough room for all of us. It's an incredibly nice place to stay, very quiet and relaxing and I'd recommend it to anyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house! We were a little unsure what to expect having read a previous review, however were pleasantly surprised as we actually found it very comfortable, it had everything we needed and we loved staying at this property - plenty of space for kids and adults to do their own things - it is very spacious! The full Sky package, BT sports and Foosball table was a bonus and provided hours of entertainment... ?   It seems the issues which were previously stated by some guests have now been rectified i.e. plenty of spare plates, cutlery, pans etc. for the all the family. All the bedrooms had curtains fitted and option for extra pillows if required.   The location was great for us as it was quite central and just off the M1 (a few of us coming from up and down the country). There were also some lovely little independent restaurants/pubs close by and a couple of supermarkets not too far to pick up bits and pieces. We had a great time here and will definitely be hoping to come back and stay again - hopefully when the weather is a little better!

The house is beautiful and the village is pretty. However, the kitchen is very poorly equipped, with only one plate and set of cutlery each, only very few pans, one dish cloth, no dishwasher tablets etc. There were no instructions on how to use the boiler, and this resulted in randomly not having hot water to shower. The cleanliness was passable but could be improved. Overall it felt slightly pricey for what we had.

Acer House was not originally our first choice for a family weekend away, due to a booking error it was offered as a suitably sized alternative. The owner was very accommodating in changing the dates to meet our original booking and sent a text before our arrival day to let us know about arrival arrangements. First impressions of the house were that it was huge, although there was only parking for 3 cars, not the advertised five (unless you're playing Rush Hour with SMART cars perhaps). Thankfully we'd arrived in 3 cars. The house was clean, and also incredibly cold. Thankfully the owner had previously text as the information in the guest book hadn't been filled out and there was no welcome pack, so we did have to wait for the owner to get back to us until we could have the heating on. The rooms are huge, and decor minimalist aside from the littering of half burned candles in every room. The garden was small and rather unkempt, with no patio furniture and the fire pit was swimming in water. So we didn't get to enjoy the garden despite the unseasonably warm weather. The living room is huge, and the wood fire is indeed very cosy but do take plenty of fire wood and kindling with you if this is a feature you want to make full use of as only a couple of logs were provided. Sky TV in the living room was an unexpected bonus although there was an art to making the TV work as there were no batteries in the TV remote and the Sky remote didn't do everything. The sitting room, AKA the games room was popular with the younger members of our family. Except that the Freeview TV wasn't plugged into anything. Oh, and that lovely corner sofa you see in the photos to give you ample comfy seating across the two rooms. That's been replaced with a two-seater sofa. The kitchen/dining room decor included half burned candles and dead flowers. It has ample seating for 10 around the table, there are additional chairs but you really wouldn't have any elbow room if there were more of you. Given the size of the house and that the dining room is large enough to cater up to 12 people you got only 12 of everything. Some serving plates would have come in really handy - if you're planning on catering for your group you might want to take some just in case. Whilst you’re packing the extras you'll also need some tea towels, a tin opener and knives if you don't want to use flimsy steak knives for eating. Personally I'd take a knife sharpener too. In fact, take your own cutlery because the cutlery provided is very cheap and flimsy, not at all luxury. Although if you were hoping for left over gravy granules and half eaten ice cream you were in luck as the cupboard and the freezer delivered. Also, do an internet search on the recycling facilities as no information is provided but there are recycling bins which seemed strange to us give the eco status of the property. Not sure when the bins were last emptied but they were incredibly full we did do some strategic squishing. Bedroom 1: with super kingsize bed which is super tall - definitely not one for short guests or mobility issues. Being 5 foot 3 I had to launch myself into bed. Once in the bed it was comfortable but would have benefit from extra pillows. Our first morning in the house this was the hot topic up for discussion and no-one could find extra pillows and everyone would have liked them as the pillows we had were very thin even though two were shoved into one pillow case. The en-suite shower head was held together with sticky tape and looked like it would fall off if you attempted to move it any way. Not that you worried about that as the LED above the shower was hanging out of the ceiling and the extractor didn't work so steam plus electricity was your first concern. Thoughtfully there were fluffy towels and small tubes of body wash and shampoo which came in handy in the early hours when you realised there was no hand soap. Bedroom 2: with kingsize bed with TV. It didn’t matter how much my uncle looked he simply couldn’t find the remote that would work the TV. The bed was comfortable, although the bed linen was grubby looking and had holes in. The room was spacious, as was the wet room. If you’re planning on staying in this room take flip flops or wellies with you as the wet room floor is lethal after you’ve had a shower. Bedrooms 3 and 4, not sure which is which but the one on the front had no curtains or blinds so perfect for exhibitionists and people who don’t want to sleep when it is light. Bedrooms 5 and 6 also have no blinds in the windows but as they’re Velux you don’t need to worry about exhibitionism (just the fact that they don’t close properly but it’s OK as it didn’t rain whilst we were away). Bedrooms 5 and 6 also have decorative clothes rails, decorative because they’re the one thing more flimsy than the cutlery, and collapse if you hang anything from them. Bedroom 5 also came with weird fleecy bedding that was not well received. The more time we spent in the house, the more aware that the whole thing had been let with an “It’ll do attitude”. We would have been very disappointed if we’d had to pay full price. Which is very disappointing when you see the house being advertised as both luxury and 4 star and does make us question the vetting process. Maybe we’ll stick with the B&B app for bookings next time because you know you’ve only got yourself to blame if it is a bit rubbish.
