We had a fab time in this traditional Welsh cottage! Comfortable sofas and bed, nice big wood burner and there are some stunning walks within 20 mins drive. The local village is really friendly and has some great charity shops. We would recommend!

Really nice cottage, good value for money. Nice location, owner very welcoming and friendly. Good base for exploring Snowdonia. I would definitely recommend it.

The cottage was the best equipped accommodation I have ever stayed in, plenty of towels, toilet rolls even dishwasher tablets and hand wash were available. We were blessed with good weather so didn’t need the log fire but imagine that would have been really cosy. Small but comfortable but my eldest son did complain his bunk bed wasn’t very comfortable and would have liked a second pillow but I slept well in the double bed. The railway was walking distance and we found the quarryman for an evening meal, slow service but good food, again a 20 minute walk away. Good Chinese takeaway close by but not much else in the town. Apart from the railway we needed the car each day and had to travel between 20 and 50 minutes each day to visit attractions such as zip fforest, Conwy and Snowdon. The scenery is stunning which made driving less of a chore. I’m sure some good walks are close by which we will definitely explore when we are next in the area. Clive the owner couldn’t have been more welcoming-thank you

Really lovely stay in a well-positioned, small but cosy cottage. We enjoyed the local attractions of Bounce Below and steam trains (including watching them pass by from our living room!), and the cottage also provides the perfect base for exploring further afield. In one week we climbed Snowdon, visited Portmeirion, cycled in Coed y Brenin, visited King Arthur's Labyrinth, as well as exploring towns and beaches such as Porthmadog, Betws y Coed, Llandudno and Barmouth. Would definitely recommend Afon Cottage as the perfect base to explore all that North Wales has to offer!

This could have been a great place - location was perfect (pretty much every attraction we wanted was within 45 minutes max and ample walking for the dog/kids), price was good, reasonably well equipped, owner was very accommodating/helpful, etc. However it hadn't been cleaned when we arrived and was generally a bit 'tired' e.g. bathroom door didn't shut properly, shower door stops were broken, grips on stairway were poking through the carpet, loose floorboards upstairs, wardrobes and dressers were in need of repair. We even had to clean out the vacuum cleaner, which had bits missing, before we could use it (maybe explains why it wasn't cleaned). We'd go again if we knew the above had been sorted but, without being able to confirm that, we'd probably pay a bit more and find somewhere else.
