Great house for a big family gathering. As you'd expect with a house of that age it's not all ultra-modern but it's very comfortable with loads of space. The garden is huge and lovely, although due to the weather we didn't get into it much. If you have a big group it's a fantastic house to hang out in.

Albion house was the perfect location for our family, new year get together. Ages ranged from 11years to 72 and dog friendly also! The space in house was ideal my only criticisms would be that there was not a bag of logs as detailed in the booking and some of the rooms where not particularly warm with pretty draughty windows. All in all it would not put me off re-booking Albion House and I highly recommend

Fab house could have been alot cleaner. Bins full to brim of used nappies from previous tennants. Condoms in room drawers. We cleaned kitchen and hoovered on our first day filling 4 hoovers worth of dirt. However house beautiful.

Fantastic house for a large family gathering or celebration (as for our Golden Wedding),

Loved our stay at Albion House. There were 10 adults, a toddler and 2 dogs. It was great having two big living rooms for those nights we wanted to do different things, but also great selection of board games for when we wanted to gather as a family and do a group activity. The playroom was perfect for my two and a half year old, and he loved the garden play set. Dogs also loved the garden (but just a note, there is a gap under one of the gates that wee dogs could sneak under so do keep an eye on them). The kitchen was really well equipped with ample crockery, glasses, cutlery and pots - the best kitchen I have ever stayed in and we rent in Scotland every year. The owners were great at communicating and left a wonderful welcome pack and an extra wee gift at the end of our stay. I would recommend this house in a heartbeat. Only (constructive) criticism I have is that the double in the en-suite is a bit small for 2 people - but on the flip side the top floor rooms/bathrooms were impeccable.

The house is huge but warm and comfortable. Hide and seek games brilliant. The constant hot water a bonus if family are walking or taking part in activities that require a shower when they return. And the shed to store bikes very helpful. There are just some small details which would have made our overall experience better. Kitchen large with lots of cupboards, mostly empty, and only basic equipment although pans, cutlery, crockery plentiful. Two large lounges, both have two lovely leather sofas but no armchairs. At a large family gatherings, (the best use of this house), it means people sit in a row or on the floor if sitting all together. Playing board or card games only possible on the dining table, away from everyone else. Bed linen, (not ironed but maybe that’s just a personal like), towels etc clean and most beds comfortable. With such a large house to clean it is probably inevitable that some corners get missed but on the whole very clean. Biggest let down is the location on the very busy A75, but on the whole we found Castle Douglas a good central location for reaching the coast and hills of Galloway. Owner very helpful, answered any queries almost immediately and we felt welcome.

Great time by our group from grandparents to grandkids. So much to explore for the kids. Already everyone asking about next visit.
