    Brilliant few days in this stunning spacey, but cosy, Georgian pile. Lovely and warm, an absolute treat to stay there. Stunning location, close to fantastic walks and lakes. Weather was no issue because of the drying room. Dogs welcome. Wonderful, welcoming hosts. Loved it.

    Our 6th visit to this large cosy house in beautiful village location. Always warm and welcoming, and owners are extremely accommodating. Pub with good food across the road, 9 hole golf course close by, 20 mins drive to Keswick. Nice local walks. Excellent base to come home to, 4 comfortable ensuite bedrooms, large cosy lounge with log burner, well equipped kitchen and much more. Ideal base for family gatherings.

    A group of eight, we were there just after new year 2020. The house itself is large and spacious, rooms, in the main, were large and well appointed. Kitchen had everything and more. the local area is very 'explorable' and the Lake District is on the doorstep. A post office/shop is a hundred yards away and a pub/restaurant the same distance. Plenty of walking/cycling available if your feeling energetic or cosy up in front of the log fire in the sitting room if you are more sedate. The owners, who live next door, are a font of local knowledge and couldn't do enough for us. All in all, a very relaxed and comfortable week which has set us up for the year ahead. We definitely recommend Algars Garth.

    This was a great find for our party of 4 couples. The owners live in a converted barn next door and were both very welcoming - helpful but not intrusive. The house is old and quirky, with a "shabby chic" vibe to it which we loved. It was warm and comfortable, and full of interesting nooks and crannies, plus books, videos etc. Large communal lounge and dining room; but also space for quiet contemplation when needed! The lounge has a wood burning stove with ample supply of logs. There is a large conservatory, but we tended not to use this (in midwinter). Three of the four bedrooms are large and comfortable, although the fourth was significantly smaller (OK for adults, great for kids) and all had good bathrooms with apparently endless hot water. Outside the grounds are free to roam - we had dogs with us so that was very useful. The Boot pub opposite is very welcoming, with live music on Sundays and a quiz on Thursday. There is a small Post Office and general store opposite, although the proprietor is miserable (perhaps he had a bad Christmas)! There is ample parking on site; and really you need to drive to get to places of interest - but it is not far to either Penrith or Keswick. The (under publicised) Rheged Centre with its cinema, art galleries and outlets/cafes is just 10 mins away by car. In essence, for a mid sized group looking for a good base in the North Lakes this would be hard to beat in its price bracket.

    Third time we have stayed here and we will definitely be going back. It is a fantastic spacious house for a family gathering with everything you could need and more . Very welcoming hosts great location with a super village pub across the green
