Sailors and fisherman will appreciate the location of Allan House which is near Kielder Castle and visitor centre with a delightful licensed café featuring a large webcam to capture the ospreys and wildlife.\nThis semi-detached property is ideal for couples or a small family as there is a large private enclosed garden making this property idyllic for all seasons.\nKielder is set in the Gold Tier International Dark Sky Park the largest in Europe which is perfect for astronomers or guests who love to lie under the stars with their one. The surroundings parks all have something to offer with Leaplish Waterside Park having a hop onoff ferry which takes you all around the water to admire the stunning scenery.\nThe local pub and licensed café is only a short walk away so you can leave your car behind. Allan House is in a great location for exploring the abundance of visitor attractions in what is reputedly the friendliest and least inhabited county in England.\nHadrian’s Wall or the Northumberland Heritage Coast make great days out and are within easy driving distance for a not-to-be-missed day trip.     Allan House fulfilled our expectations for an ideal location for biking , hiking and star gazing. This is a remote location so be aware that you need to make provision for adequate supplies of food etc, to avoid lengthy trips to the nearest shops. The shop in the village is no longer open. Tescos do deliver to the village. The kitchen is well equipping but is lacking in any consumables eg foil, cling film, cooking oil, kitchen roll and cleaning products. Limited supplies of dishwasher tablets and toilet rolls. Overall the house was very comfortable and warm, and we enjoyed our stay.

    My 90 yr old mum and I went for just 4 nights. She wanted to visit Newcastle where she was born and I wanted to see what Northumberland had to offer so it was a perfect location. It is a lovely cottage in beautifully peaceful village - a real “getaway”. It was absolutely immaculate and had everything you could possibly need - the hand rail and non-slip mat in the walk in shower was a real bonus for mum! Garden is huge and well enclosed - great for the dogs to run off steam - although my 2 are small and could get through the gate at the bottom. (I managed to block it with a piece of mesh but it could do with something more permanent). Only problem were the midges which made sitting out impossible. We discovered a repellant called “Smidge”, which is available in the castle cafe, on our last morning so will be better prepared next time. All in all we had a brilliant time and really can’t recommend this place highly enough.

    We had a fabulous time at Allan House, we researched the area well before we booked and it was everything we wanted. The house is lovely & clean, well equipped with everything we needed, very comfortable and so well situated for a week of exploring the great outdoors. Our 2 spaniels enjoyed investigating every inch of the spacious garden.

    Really nice clean cottage. Next door neighbour's really friendly and informative.Loads of varied walks straight from cottage . Only for people who like the great outdoors. Amenities very limited. People really friendly highly recommended if you need a holiday to get away from everything.
