The wonderful annexe, holidng two of the bedrooms, is located just 6 yards away from the main property. Boasting a hot tub in its private, Italian style garden with lawned area and country views, it sits just 100 yards from a village pub serving good food. Nearby, at the foot of the Hambleton Hills, the traditional market town of Thirsk, 4 miles, is renowned as the ‘Darrowby’ of the James Herriot books (an interesting museum has now been created from the former veterinary practice) and is also home to a famous racecourse and a cinema. Children especially will love a day out at the Monk Park Farm centre, and the nearby Birds of Prey and Conservation Centre is well worth a visit as is Sion Hill Hall, a neo-Georgian masterpiece built by the ‘Lutyens of the North’. Rievaulx Abbey, Flamingo Land theme park, Eden Camp, Pickering and Castle Howard are all within easy reach and the fascinating city of York is a mere 25 miles distant. Shops 4 miles, pub serving food 100 yards.

    We had a fantastic stay at Amberleigh. It was ideal for a large group of friends to socialise and catch up for the weekend. Convenient location close to Thirsk and beautiful surrounding countryside and villages. I would highly recommend.

    This was our second visit to Amberleigh because we enjoyed it so much in 2018. If you enjoy walking, it's an ideal spot, surrounded by the Yorkshire Dales. The property is lovely; unfortunately we had no heating for 24 hours due to a problem with the boiler. The owner provided 2 free standing heaters, which were adequate for the main house but the annex became very cold. It also meant we had nowhere to dry swimsuits/towels. Still, as a group of 8 ladies, we had a great weekend.

    Absolutely loved our stay. Cottage was well equipped with everything you could need and our little boys loved the Christmas tree. Hot tub was brilliant, perhaps could do with an awning over for the winter months. Will be booking again to come back next year.

    We visited Amberleigh for 3 night's as a group of 7 ladies for a special birthday. Everything was just as stated and more, lovely clean cottage helpful owners and bonus hot tub. We visited a local town had lunch at Bettys tea room (delicious) and did a spot of Christmas shopping. For Sunday lunch we booked a table at the pub across the road and everyone agreed it was gorgeous. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or book in the future.

    Lovely cottage, quiet even on the main road. Very comfortable good for traveling out from to places. Local pub only amenities, thirsk nearest for shopping and amenities. Cottage and annex great for 2x4 families, might be problematic for very small children as outside area uneven. Owners very helpful, excellent place to stay.

    The cottage was excellent, a good renovation and tastefully decorated. The rooms were a good size and we had plenty of room for the 4 generations staying for a week. Outside there was a reasonable size garden, a mix of grass, paved and shillies. The hot tub was great and well looked after by the owners. The owners popped around daily to check said hot tub and offered advice in places to go etc, as well as check that we were OK especially after a spectacular storm. Locally an excellent pub within walking distance but you have to drive elsewhere. Sutton Bank is a fairly strenuous walk, nonetheless manageable in an hour or two.
