The wonderful annexe, holidng two of the bedrooms, is located just 6 yards away from the main property. Boasting a hot tub in its private, Italian style garden with lawned area and country views, it sits just 100 yards from a village pub serving good food. Nearby, at the foot of the Hambleton Hills, the traditional market town of Thirsk, 4 miles, is renowned as the ‘Darrowby’ of the James Herriot books (an interesting museum has now been created from the former veterinary practice) and is also home to a famous racecourse and a cinema. Children especially will love a day out at the Monk Park Farm centre, and the nearby Birds of Prey and Conservation Centre is well worth a visit as is Sion Hill Hall, a neo-Georgian masterpiece built by the ‘Lutyens of the North’. Rievaulx Abbey, Flamingo Land theme park, Eden Camp, Pickering and Castle Howard are all within easy reach and the fascinating city of York is a mere 25 miles distant. Shops 4 miles, pub serving food 100 yards.

    We stayed here in May 2018. Myself and my husband and our two children (under 3), my parents and my grown up brother. From the moment we arrived we felt at home. The property is tastefully furnished and is probably the best equipped self catering cottage we have stayed in. We were even provided with a high chair and travel cot for my youngest at no extra charge (you would be surprised how many places charge for these). The annex was perfect as it meant we weren’t living on top of each other and my parents could have a lie in without being disturbed by our little early risers. The lady who owns the property was lovely and provided all the information we could need in a friendly and welcoming way. The pub across the road serves excellent food and is very convenient for a quick drink. We visited lots of local attractions and there were still more we just didn’t have time to see. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful holiday

    I was one of eight guests staying at Amberleigh Cottage. Every one of us were delighted. The cottage and annex are beautiful, very elegant with high quality furniture and appliances. We received a very warm welcome from the owners and can't wait to visit again.

    Fabulous place, so warm and comfortable despite snow blizzards outside. Hot tub was amazing. Can’t praise this place enough, well equipped, very comfy beds and owners checked in to see all was ok.

    We were a group of ladies who like walking, the location was perfect for some fabulous walks, Sutton Bank was within a very short drive which opened up a massive fantastic area to cycle, walk or horse ride. The cottage had the added advantage of a lovely hot tub to relax in after a long day of excercise.

    A great way to spend time with a group of old friends x comfy , warm , cosy with great open sociable living the hot tub added to the occasion and was great for star gazing . Missed Wetherby racing as abandoned because of the wet but enjoyed visiting Knaresborough and Helmsley. Would definitely visit again x

    A really nice, well equipped property in a convenient setting. The annex is detached from the main building which we hadn't been aware of and was a bit disappointed. Lots to do in surrounding area. Owner of property very helpful and visited daily to keep hot tub in order. Local pub just over the road, good meals and kids loved the games room; pool and darts.
