Perfect cottage when you want to be away from everyone. Coastline is outstanding. Private beach and the close Ostel beach are amazing

Loved the location, very quiet and perfect to relax especially with the beach being so private and the dogs next door were a great bonus, friendly and fun. We had no problems with the farm yard and animals , it’s what you’d expect.

Everyone loved the cottage and the views were fabulous

Beaters cottage is a wonderful place to get away from it all. The Ardlamont estate has its own beautiful beach which is stony at high tide, but an area of lovely soft sand is exposed as the tide goes out. It has beautiful views of the Isle of Arran and Kintyre. The cottage is lovely & cosy, well equipped with each bedroom being en-suite. The owners gave us a warm welcome as did their dogs who adopted us from arrival. The local amenities are close enough with a good local store in Kames and the Kames Hotel does amazing food (all local produce) including meat supplied by Ardlamont - definitely go there for at least one meal. We loved every moment of our stay and were sad to leave. I recommend a stay at beaters without hesitation.

The Beaters Cottage is really nice but a bit off the beaten track. What ever you do, don't follow the coast road to Tighnabruich when coming in, its a nightmare single track that adds an hour to your journey. Go straight on & ignore the sat nav! We picked this cottage for the enclosed garden for our dogs but this was shared by the owners 4 dogs & chickens, who used to jump over the wall. Unfortunately, our dogs can be a bit snappy, so we couldn't let them out on their own much. On one occasion they both caught a chicken in their mouths, so that put an end to letting them out!!! The house itself is good with lots of room & very quirky. I must say though, that this is the first time in booking a cottage, that there wasn't a welcome pack of milk & bread, wine & treats for the dogs. We have booked lots of other cottages in the past & this has always been a part of it but nothing at this cottage. The nearest shop in Kames is 20 mins or so away, so come prepared. The shop in Kames is great though & has everything you would need. The private beach on site is lovely, although rocky, its great for the dogs & quite a welcome addition. Be prepared to be woken at 4 am too, with hens & chickens clucking & the two pigs snorting over the wall lol! quite amusing though, as you are in the middle of a farm yard! The surrounding coastline is quite stunning though & very breathtaking, so had some lovely days out. So, if you like out of the way cottages, quirky interiors & farm yard animals outside your window, Beaters Cottage is for you. We did have a really lovely week though but Loch Lomond & some of the other sites are 1.5+ hours drive away, so be prepared for a bit of a drive if you want go anywhere other than local.

If you want an escape from life then this is the place to go, Beware as it is not for everyone but we liked our break and the private beach is a bonus. There is plenty to see and do but you do need to drive if you want to see it and there is some stunning scenery

On arriving the impression was not good. The grass approaching the gate entrance was covered in dog poo. The so-called courtyard was hardly that! The two large planters outside the door were packed with mud/ earth and the outside windows were filthy with the paint work requiring attention. Straight across from the front door and a wall was a field for pigs, as you would expect a quagmire. The pigs escaped through a rather dodgy gate on the evening before we decided to abandon our much needed holiday after only being there for two and a half days. The cottage was well enough equipped but with no landline. Mobile reception was non existent. The cottage had a very fusty/ musty smell and there were stains on the sitting room carpet. The inside windows were filthy and covered with flies and cobwebs with the paintwork requiring much needed attention as milldue was all over the windows. A good clean may have sorted this. The shower room extractor fans were completely chocked up with filth. They clearly had not been cleaned for ages. The white plastic sealant was coming away from the wall and shower tray and black milldue again was all to evident. The sash and case did not work so airing the rooms is always going to be an issue. When renting a cottage, you do not expect to be looking into a yard with a trailer packed with what looked like household scrap and quite frankly the yard was very unkept. If we wanted a holiday in the middle of a working farm I would have asked for this. This didn’t even appear to be a working farm, just an absolute mess. By the way I have never writen a review before so it saddens me feel so aggrieved to write this. On the plus side. The dogs were lovely.

The folders in the cottage are out of date, especially regarding the refuse uplift

It's a beautiful remote area. Cottage was comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed the daily company and visit of the spaniels, chickens and geese . One of the spaniels always came for a walk with our dog to the beach which has superb views. Nice to get away with no phone signal and just the occasional wifi. Good cottage for exploring and walking area.

My wife and I have stayed at on the Ardlamont Estate before and enjoyed coming back, we stayed at a different property this time as more of the family were with us and we needed more space. There also appears to be some renovation work elsewhere on the estate going on but this didn't affect our stay in any way. Beavers Cottage was well appointed and had everything we needed for a pleasant and restful holiday. The decor and furniture is full of character with lot's of antique furniture and wall decorations which we enjoyed. The private beach area is just as we remembered it, and we'd definitely recommend a visit to the Spa at Portavadie as well as the fantastic walks around the area.

We had the most incredible and soul-enriching break. We were welcomed and would highly recommend The Beaters Cottage to anyone seeking a breakaway holiday surrounded by a serene and insanely stunning environment. The cottage is fully equipped and feels utterly warming especially with the playful springer spaniels. Barra is such a lovely dog!
