• About Ardlui Church

Large natural garden with garden furniture. Bike store. Private parking for 6 cars. No smoking. Please note: The property has a natural water supply from a spring.

Situated near the top of Loch Lomond, this 200-year-old church has been thoughtfully transformed into a very comfortable and welcoming holiday home, with many of the original features retained giving great character and charm. The original bell tower and a Celtic stone round window can best be appreciated from outside where there are extensive, unfenced natural grounds. Inside, the beautiful windows, double-height beamed ceiling and lovely light streaming in from the patio doors in the living/dining room make this a welcoming space to relax after a day out exploring.
The tiny village of Ardlui lies on the edge of the loch and takes approximately 10 minutes to walk to on a footpath alongside the main road. The village has a well-stocked shop, hotel, train station and the small ferry which transports passengers over the loch to join the West Highland Way. There is hill walking aplenty from the door step, with waterfalls, native woodland and wildlife to be seen. In contrast, there is designer shopping and the Sea Life Centre in Balloch, 45 minutes away. There is also golf at Luss, 30 minutes away, and for memorable days exploring, Oban, Fort William or Glasgow are within easy reach. There is a choice of eating places 2 miles north at Inverarnan. Shop 1½ miles, restaurant ½ mile, pub ¾ mile.

Excellent location, well equipped home from home. The welcome pack did exactly what it said. The accommodation is spacious, we were 5 adults and it worked well. Our only suggestion is that two keys would have enabled us to go to different places during the day without worrying about who would be back at the cottage first.

Fantastic welcome. The grocery pack was very good. The house was immaculate and clean. Minor issue was trying to get the boys from ringing the bell constantly. Wifi/phone signal a bit hit and miss but on holiday so no great problems really. The boys found several hiding places to play hide and seek. Facilities also good in the kitchen. Local wildlife also appeared so birds, deer and even a bat one night. Only one down side was that it rained almost every day but you cant have everything. Local places of interest good and indoors. Definitely worth it.

Stunning property and location. We didn't want for anything. No real local amenities but not too far to travel buy we chose it for being remote.

The best ever. We really loved it. Only disadvantages: midgets (but you can smidge) and no big supermarkets. Is this a problem? No! House is clean, cute and big. We’ll be back.

Lovely greeting late at night food and drink to settle us in. Good advice on local parking for a nice walk starting at owners campsite. We had a really nice weekend.
