The property is elegantly proportioned and retains many period features including decorative cornices, centre ceiling roses and handsome marble fireplaces, not to mention the impressive staircases and balustrade. It has been renovated, yet retains its links to the bygone days with the service bell console remaining in the kitchen – try it out!

The area boasts many pretty little ports such as Sandhead, Portpatrick and the RSPB Scotland Mull of Galloway nature reserve where thousands of seabirds nest in the cliff face during the spring and summer. Walking is a delight, whether clifftop, beaches, hills or forests and the Southern Upland Way passes close by. A cyclist’s paradise with the world famous 7Stanes within easy reach. If you prefer shooting or golf there are many facilities nearby including the course in Stranraer and the county course is just a short drive away. This house looks amazing on the website, however we found several issues with the house and have photographed these. The front door is the only one with a lock on it,the internal door has evidence of locks previously being on it but these appear to have been removed.Inside the house there is electric plugs not attached to the wall. The hot tub is missing most of its roof and the side panels/curtains missing also rendering it unusable if raining. There was a small hole and crack in one of the front windows. In the back garden there is a stank with a space at the side of it,the dog got her paw and leg caught in this. The bedding was of poor quality and never really fitted the beds particularly in front downstairs bedroom. In the middle floor there was constant debris coming down the chimney and into the bedroom. The top floor was extremely cold despite hall radiator. On the top floor also there is evidence in bedroom that roof has been leaking. The bathrooms were all nice, kitchen was nice and well equipped. We went here as a family with two children aged 8 and 6 also a 10 month old,2 dogs and 8 adults, whilst the house certainly has plenty of room I don’t believe it’s safe for children or should be marketed towards families.

Great house had a couple of issues on arrival, to be fair where dealt with immediately, the only issue we real had was the standard of the mattress could be doing with being upgraded, as a party of 9 adults we had great use of the house especially the large and accommodating dinning table where we could all sit and eat together also the lounges when football was on the women made use of the other lounge which had sky also for there films, use of hot tub also, so in general had a good family time

Spent a weekend here with work colleagues and had a great time. A beautiful house which we all enjoyed. The weather was very poor so we were unable to take full advantage of the hot tub but this and the garden are great. Would definitely stay again.

The main reason for us not returning, which is such a shame as there was so much that we did enjoy was that the entire stay was ruined for everyone in my party by the very poor quality of the mattresses and lack of sleep that resulted from this. The bed linen was also of a below average standard, not in keeping with the overall appearance of what should be a luxury house. There was a problem with lighting in two of the bedrooms on the first floor, both main lights not working and only one bedside table lamp usable due to a lack of plug sockets. The jacuzzi was a lovely treat but again ruined by the lack of care and attention. The frame surrounding it had broken and missing panels in the roof, the side curtains were missing and there was no lighting in that immediate area making getting in and out quite hazardous. While we appreciate that we were staying during the Christmas/New Year period, and normal services can be disrupted, it was not a very pleasant sight to be left with the overflowing rubbish bins and recycling items from the previous guests festivities. I hope the owner takes these comments on board as most of these things are easily rectified to ensure that further guests get to have what should have been for us, an enjoyable stay in a grand house.

Full of potential but feels very unloved. On the plus side: lovely and warm; big comfy living rooms, full Sky package. However, lots of 'minor' things need looking at (many lightbulbs out/missing, unkept garden (half of roof missing over hot tub pergola, firework remains and cigarette butts scattered around), some beds uncomfy due to thin mattresses, one half of oven not working properly etc). None of this spoilt out stay but would hesitate to recommend as a result. Wouldn't take much to iron out some of the 'minor' quibbles and allow the property to realise its full potential.

Lighting and lamps faulty, four poster bed very uncomfortable. Worrying cracks to middle wall structure. Bins full at the start of our stay.

Excellent house for a large group of people all off different ages ranging from 17 to 72. Needs an information folder to advise different information like how to you use hot tub.
