If the cottage was cleaned to a high standard, then this cottage would have had top marks. The location in Uig with view was amazing. The cottage is well stocked and spacious. We just needed to clean the place and wash towels and bed clothes upon arrival. I guess that is luck of the draw. Top tip: Get there before 6:30pm on a Saturday as the store closes and doesn't open again until Monday. It is all part of island life, but worth bearing in mind if you don't pack the basics like milk, bread, loo roll. Portree is an easy 20 mins drive away, where there is a big co-op

Lovely cottage with an amazing view. It was exciting to see rabbits on the lawn, a buzzard on the telegraph pole, a hedgehog and many other birds from the large windows, as well as watching the comings and goings of the boats in the bay. The cottage is comfortable and very well equipped. The living area now has a very nice long corner sofa and 2 arm chairs. The cottage was clean but it could do with a more thorough clean, we cleaned some grubby surfaces in the bathrooms - ornaments hadn’t been moved for weeks so grubby in places, the ledge on the side panel of the bath had an unpleasant layer of dust/hair. Nooks and crannies in general need a good clean, bathroom skirting boards, edges of shower cubicles. The bedside drawers in the downstairs double room were very dusty, so we didn’t use them. We have stayed in many cottages and we have always been able to describe them as ‘spotless’. The towels are also thin and worn out. About 5 spotlight bulbs need replacing. Uig itself is very quiet but ideally situated for walking in the Trotternish area. Eating out - Ella’s cafe was great for lunch, The Uig Hotel and The Ferry Inn both good for evening meals. In summary in spite of the few minor issues with cleaning we had a fantastic week in Argyle Cottage.

We had a lovely family holiday at Argyle Cottage. The weather was kind to us which helped. The cottage was warm and comfortable with a glorious view. It was well equipped although we could have done with a couple more teatowels -I never know when to take spares and should have done this time and I probably should have taken an extra bath towel too. We were a group of 6 adults and a three year old and we had plenty of room downstairs but the sleeping arrangements were a little awkward. The mezzanine isn't really an option as a bedroom for a little one as it has an uncurtained window and people talking and moving about downstairs would disturb anyone trying to sleep. There isn't an awfull lot of anything in Uig but we liked that. There is a very good shop in the village and a couple of cafes and a petrol station at the ferry terminal which stocks the essentials for when the shop is shut. We had lovely weather so we're able to walk, cycle and admire the scenery but on the one day that we had dodgy weather we spent an extremely enjoyable couple of hours at the Ace target sport centre in Portree we did archery and it was brilliant. The instructor was excellent and the rest of the staff were so friendly - highly recommended.

We’ve just had a fantastic holiday staying here. We could not fault it. The house is set with the most amazing views. It was clean and well equipped with lovely and comfortable sofas, chairs and beds. I could happily live there forever! Highly recommended

Although the cottage itself was lovely, unfortunately it was only clean on the surface and inside cupboards, selves, under beds and around skirting boards were thick with dirt and dust. I spent 2 hours cleaning the cottage after finding old, leaking batteries, dust covered unused lamps, old wrappers and a bottle of an unknown substance outside the cottage within reach of my 3 young children. The care and attention needed to make this cottage wonderful is very easily achievable, with a good clean, declutter and safety check. We loved the wood burner, inclosed garden space and powerful showers. We enjoyed a lovely sunny week in Skye and will defiantly return soon.

fabulous view from the large windows come rain wind sun the ebb and flow of the tide and calmac ferries. Uig near to the main tourist attractions pottery, quirang , kilt rock , fairy glen etc. Portree and Glendale or heist point are also not to far to get to and visit The cottage is comfortable and a good size for a family with two bathrooms and plenty of room. The WiFi cost is annoying given that you can only use one device and for a small group its an additional cost per device there is central heating along with a small log burner. There was no basket of logs ready so don't forget to bring your own. Normal logs bought at the petrol station or supermarket are too wide to burn without mid size pieces due to the size of the burner . I would recommend compressed type logs something burn readily. Otherwise the central heating efficient. Enjoyable visit to Skye restful and great location

The cottage was great, warm and comfortable and the caretaker was to hand if help was needed. Uig is a remote place with wonderful scenery, geology, history and walking. Local amenities were good for eating and drinking. The local stores were helpful and well stocked. Phone and WIFI signals can be a bit thin but you can get free WIFI in hotels and bars locally. £20 a week for WIFI in the cottage seemed a bit steep when most cottages do this service for free. A brilliant week was had by all in November and we'll be back.
