Arundel Mews is tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac yet just yards from all the attractions and amenities of Scarborough, making it a perfect holiday base. This unique, upside down house has a balcony upstairs with views across the town and to the sea in the distance. The upstairs of the property is all open plan with a lounge leading out onto the balcony where there’s a seating area, a lovely place to relax and read or sunbathe. Downstairs there’s a large hallway ideal for storing bikes or surf boards. It’s also unusual in that it has its own parking which is hard to find in the centre of Scarborough. For those of you who wish to leave the car behind you can walk from the train station to the property as it’s just around the corner.
Guests are spoilt for choice because, within a very short stroll, you are amongst all the restaurants, bars, cafes and shops. Just across the road is the Stephen Joseph Theatre, famous for the world premieres of almost all of Alan Aykbourn’s plays. Along the coast, you’ll find Flamborough Head, Filey and the traditional seaside resort of Bridlington. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton is a short drive where, you can observe puffins, gannets, seals and dolphins in their natural habitat. If you wander down to the seafront, you’ll find the two bays, North and South Bay. The bays are separated by Scarborough Castle, perched high on the headland. The South Bay is the livelier of the two with the amusements, donkey rides and attractions whilst the North Bay is much quieter. Both have fantastic beaches that have won awards from Blue Flag and Quality Coast making them ideal for that family holiday. The Marine Drive runs all the way along the two bays and is over three miles long, great for that early evening stroll. If you prefer to have a good hike Scarborough forms part of the Cleveland Way, where you can walk along the rugged cliffs with stunning coastal views and hidden coves. Scarborough also plays host to the famous cricket summer festival where you will see county cricket at its best. Yorkshire has plenty of stately homes and you are not far from most of them. Sewerby Hall, Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere and the wonderful Castle Howard are just a short drive away. All of them have stunning gardens to walk around. The medieval city of York is only an hour away. If you want to leave the car behind, just walk around the corner and catch one of the hourly trains direct to the centre and spend a day in the beautiful city. There’s so much to see and do in York, visit the Minster, the Shambles or just have a leisurely cruise along the river. For a great family holiday, Arundel Mews has everything. Shop 300 yards, pub 200 yards and restaurant 300 yards.

This cottage was ideally situated for Scarborough town and the seafront is approx 15-20 mins walk. The cottage is well equipped and was very clean and comfortable. Sainsbury's with petrol station is 5 minutes walk away and Tesco a little further. The off street parking was extremely helpful as we could see it would have been difficult to park the car nearby otherwise! We had a lovely week despite some very mixed weather and there is lots to do both in Scarborough and the surrounding area.

The problem with this property is you have the kitchen upstairs and you have to carry hot food downstairs which is narrow with the table being on the ground floor.

The actual property inside was clean but we were greeted with Dog poo on the outside door mat, we were lucky we spotted it before stepping on it and entering the house. Not sure how it got there if the place had been checked/cleaned prior to our holiday (?) Otherwise great location for a holiday focused on Scarborough. As near main supermarkets. theatre and station / bus. good to have parking. Missed having a green space but lovely quirky house. Thanks

Arundel Mews was a lovely place to have a week away from London. Off street parking was a blessing although due to great buses and trains we were able to use public transport to go to Filey, Whitby and York which were all great. We went to Castle Howard which was also beautiful. North Bay of Scarborough was a lovely walk. Cottage was lovely and didn't disappoint except we did think we had a real log fire - we took up wood! Sadly it was gas but did still look quite cosy. Christmas decorations were a really nice touch and the biscuits, cakes and tea, coffee and milk were much appreciated. Very nicely decorated and clean. Floorboards were very creaky so we were glad it was only the two of us staying as it would have been difficult to move around at night without waking anybody else up in the house. We only used the downstairs table a couple of times and noticed the seats were quite worn and were very low when you sat in them but this wasn't too much of a problem. Tumble dryer was out of order. Water was cut off by the water company for a day and a half but the caretakers acted very promptly when we called them and everything was back on when we came back from our day out walking. Last minor comment was that the temperature readings on the cooker were worn off so had no clue at all what temperature the oven was at so just guessed - thankfully I am a good guesser. On the whole though it was a lovely break. We wouldn't go back as we have now visited the areas we wanted to see on that side of the coast so nothing again the actual property itself and I have told my friends and family what a lovely place it is. Not sure I would over advertise the balcony with sea view as it really isn't easy to see the sea and you do look out onto the houses across the road and an office so it isn't really somewhere you would want to sit out - also it is right next to the train track - we only heard the trains a couple of times though.

Absolutely loved the cottage. Myself, 2 daughters and our 2 dogs were all made to feel very welcome. The dogs had a bed, bowls & some biscuits left for them. We had a welcome pack too, which was appreciated after our long journey. The cottage was fantastic, so cosy, clean & welcoming. We want to move in!!! The cottage has all the equipment, with the bonus of a washing machine and a dishwasher. Close to all amenities, including the train station and the town centre. The beach is within walking distance. We only stayed for 2 nights, but enjoyed the cottage so much that we have rebooked to stay in April next year for 7 nights.
