    Occupying the third floor of this centrally located apartment complex, Ascension Island offers well-presented and comfortable accommodation with all the modern comforts. There is an open plan living/dining room with doors that open out onto a balcony with outdoor furniture. The large, state of the art TV has complimentary access to Netflix with a variety of UK and international channels including Bollywood, China and Middle Eastern TV channels. The separate kitchen is well equipped with washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. There are three bedrooms, the master has a great en-suite with corner bath. There is an additional family bathroom and a cloakroom with toilet and basin for guest convenience.

    The apartment is located in the centre of the bustling town of Bowness-on-Windermere which is very popular thanks to its eclectic mix of boutique shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. It is also famous for its World of Beatrix Potter Attraction which will delight visitors young and old. Lake Windermere, which is England’s largest natural lake, is within easy walking distance and from here you can take a boat trip or even hire one to sail yourself! You can choose to sail over to Ambleside or to Lakeside where you can visit the aquarium or take a ride on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite steam railway. You can also combine this trip with a visit to the Lakeland Motor Museum.

    Of course, one of the most popular ways of getting around is on foot and there are endless opportunities for walkers. There are plenty of walks around Bowness itself, and the surrounding fells are easily reached by car or public transport. Windermere station is a 25-minute walk away from the apartment and there are buses from Bowness into Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere and Kendal. Beach 17 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

    Ascension island was a very quirky accommodation, the TV and electrics were hard to use. It was also a bit tired and need a good redecorating, disappointed about the scaffolding which was still in place and disrupted the view from the patio doors and balcony. There were a number of workmen seen outside on the scaffolding which wasn't great for privacy I think the price should have been reduced just for this fact alone. On the good side, beds so comfortable and it is in a fab location literally 2 minutes to the shops and bars. Would I return perhaps not.

    The apartment is in a great location, very close to everything. Car parking space is essential in the Lake District. Lots of high tech, TV, lights. Well equipped, except for only 2 dessert spoons! Beds very comfy. Main bedroom with en-suite is a bit tight for space. Enjoyed ourselves, except for the weather. Would recommend and return

    Excellent location and well equipped modern apartment, really enjoyed our stay but the tech doesn’t all work and issues with hot water dropped our rating, but we would definitely stay again

    Stunning apartment in a perfect location. The apartment is 2 minutes walk from the centre of Bowness but tucked away on a quiet road so you don’t hear any noise from the road or nearby pubs. The apartment has a private drive which could accommodate 2 cars with adjacent visitor parking on a first come first served basis. The apartment is furnished to a high spec and we wanted for nothing whilst we were there. The TV entertainment system was a real benefit. The modern kitchen is also fully equipped and the owners had stocked it with complimentary coffee, Tea, biscuits and sweets and all the necessary washing products, We took our 18 month granddaughter and didn’t have to worry about loading up the car with high chair, cot and changing mat as these were all provided. We would definitely stay at this apartment again and recommend to any family looking for a central location. The only negative which did not affect us was the fact that there are 3 flights of external stairs (there is no lift)so would not suit anyone with walking difficulties.
