This stunning barn conversion, skilfully undertaken, retains a good deal of charm and character and is situated within a well manicured courtyard, adjacent to the owner’s 17th-century, Grade II Georgian home and adjoins another holiday cottage (132147). Presented with care and great style, the holiday home is ideal for two couples or families. Located within one of the prettiest villages in the county, Great Asby is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Eden Valley. A little river runs through the village past the church, pub and small school. Situated on the ‘Westmorland Way’, there are interesting and scenic walks and cycle routes from the door and Sunbiggin Tarn, a bird reserve, is close by. Sandwiched between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks makes this location an excellent touring base for exploring this spectacular corner of Northern England. A truly beautiful cottage which has been restored to a very high standard. It was both furnished and equiped again to a very high standard. The owners were friendly and provided a welcome pack. A lovely peaceful location, great little village to wander round and a good friendly pub to visit.

Ashtree barn was recommended to us by my sister who has stayed there a couple of times. In particular she had said the cleanliness was outstanding - and that was actually why we went. Staying in properties that are sub standard in this respect is in our opinion guaranteed to ruin our holiday. Ashtree Barn was not only perfect in this respect but in every other criterion for us to select a holiday cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and intend to return.
