This is a great house in a great location. Although the house has everything you need for a holiday in the peak district, the fixtures and furnishings are very dated which I guess explains the lack of interior pictures on the various websites its listed on. So long as you don't mind this and go and enjoy the Peak district, it shouldn't be a big issue. The only item I would like to have seen replaced is the double bed which squeaked and creaked every time you move. I am however told by my daughter that the single beds were very comfortable! Pros: - Friendly local owner - Spotlessly clean - Good WiFi - Good size living room with great views - Quiet location - Well equipped kitchen - Plenty of hanging space in the bedrooms - Good outdoor space - Parking - Easy walk to several pubs - Great location and access to most of the Peak District attractions Cons: - Dated furnishings - Small kitchen - but has everything you need - Squeaky/Creaky double bed Recommendations: - The food in Barringtons on the main road through Darley Bridge was excellent. - The food in the Old Bowling Green in Winster up the hill from the house was also excellent. - Chatsworth House was a great day out. We paid to access the Farm and playground as well as the gardens. The playground was good but our daughter enjoyed playing in the Cascade fountain more than the playground (Make sure you take a towel for the kids). Make sure you give yourself several hours to fully explore the gardens and get lost in the labyrinth. - Speedwell Caverns and Peaks Cavern - Make sure you get to Speedwell early as the queue does get long. I would highly recommend lunch or cake in The Rose Cottage cafe in Castleton before doing the last tour of the day at Peaks Cavern as its much quieter then. - The Heights of Abraham are a must. You can do and see everything in a few hours then head back to Matlock Bath for an early dinner. The food in the Fishpond was excellent, especially the Pizzas. - The audio tour around Cromford Mill was very good and worth the few extra pounds. - Great ice cream at Matlock Meadows - We managed to spend the entire day at Matlock Farm Park. The animals were all very well looked after with lots of great petting and feeding sessions throughout the day. The staff were all very friendly and informative. The indoor play and coffee shop and cafe were also very good. - Bolsover Castle is only a short 40 min drive away and worth the visit. The dancing horse display was great.
