Had a wonderful Christmas break at this cosy little converted barn. Everything ready for us, including a bottle of wine and Bakewell pudding! Spotlessly clean throughout. Perfect location. Only one (very) minor niggle – couldn't find any placemats, tea towels or oven gloves; so had to buy our own. Also some of the glassware was on high shelves in the kitchen, which might be an issue for shorter guests. Other than that, would not hesitate to book again. Thank you!

Top marks for location, right in the middle of town. And the converted barn had a lovely atmosphere, with beams, flagstone floors and lattice windows. We didn't need to use the wood burner as the central heating was sufficient and the weather wasn't too cold but it was good to know it was there and certainly added character. Super large TV that was easy to use with only one handset! The room with the double bed was a squeeze and smaller than the room with two single beds, but presumably was made the master because it had an en suite. But with only open shelves and wall hooks it lacked storage. Lovely comfy beds but very high so when sitting on the bed it was impossible to reach down to put on socks or shoes. This was a problem for our elderly relative in the twin room so I suggest adding a bedroom chair to that room (there isn't space in the double) as we had to move in a chair from the kitchen. The kitchen was adequately supplied but lacked a sieve and cheese grater. There wasn't a hair dryer either or any books/games. All of these are essentials we were surprised not to find. The high beams must be difficult to dust (some cobwebs) but otherwise the house was clean. The showers were great and it was so nice to have soap and moisturiser supplied. Just one urgent issue, I suggest the owners fasten down securely the metal floor strip between living room and kitchen areas, as it was loose and we tripped a couple of times, before putting the door mat over it for safety. Overall there were far more positives than negatives and we enjoyed our stay. We'd definitely stay again if the issues mentioned are put right.

Have stayed at Bakewell Barn before but sorry to say standards have slipped. Web site says satellite TV with sports package, no longer there. Welcome pack a poor gesture to previous. Just 4 logs for the woodburner come on guys you are charging premium prices for non premium accommodation. Lack of basic kitchen equipment such as scissors, serving spoons, oven proof dishes.

Once again we enjoyed our stay. We noted some changes since our last visit which modified character of the barn. A hair drier would have been helpful as would a pair of kitchen scissors. Clothing storage in the bedrooms had the look of work in progress. Our enjoyment was not impaired and we would be pleased to visit again.

Excellent base, manages to be very central and somehow quiet as well; also has its own off-road parking, which must be pretty rare for Bakewell! Comfortable with plenty of character too, just what you need.

The Barn is situated a really short walk from local shops and places to eat out so leaving the car at the cottage was a simple choice. Getting to the Barn was a little tight the first time but we would suggest reversing in!. The only things we found annoying were 1) As the dishwasher was huge a drainer for washing up would have been nice. 2) we like to use the oven. Some decent bakeware would have been appreciated. We ended up buying a couple of trays and taking them home!.3) A pair of kitchen scissors would also have been nice. Those little things apart The Barn was comfortable and very convenient and yes we would book it again

A lovely little cottage in a quite little corner of Bakewell. Would book there again if visiting the area again.
