We enjoyed a long weekend break at Bal Maidens Cottage,we found the cottage to be very comfortable and cosy.Plenty of interesting places to visit within a short drive and despite storm Ciara we were able to walk down to the Cot valley near St Just.Trewellard arms and the North Inn at Pendeen both serve very good pub food.

Lovely cottage, well equipped kitchen. Everything we needed. Lovely spotless bathroom. Bedrooms were lovely, comfy beds. Bigger on the inside than expected. Would recommend as a lovely base for a holiday in the beautiful setting of Cornwall

Really lovely cottage with good size rooms (small kitchen) and nice outside area. Lovely view of sea in distance. Very well located to access Lands End, St Ives, Mousehole and enjoy driving the coastal road. Handy shop within walking distance. Excellent pub, serving food, literally over the road. Nice local play park for kids. Quiet road, although you do get woken up very early by the cockerel that lives twos doors down (and he has hearty lungs & stamina!). Parking opposite cottage or on side road was easy. Only thing is that the kitchen could have been slightly better equipped eg baking tray, oven glove, complimentary dishwasher tablet, just little things that help. Would recommend the cottage. We were 2 adults & 1 child and had plenty of room.

Lovely place, 2nd time stayed. Ticks all the boxes.

This was our second stay in the cottage, so we knew what to expect. Trewellard is a great central location for exploring this Western part of Cornwall, with a choice of excellent pubs, one literally on the doorstep. You don't have to go to Penzance to do your food shopping. St Just, only 3 miles away has a good selection of outlets and there is a Costcutter in Pendeen, less than 1 mile away

Had a wonderful week exploring West Penwith's ancient sites and mining history.

This is a lovely cottage, very well equipped and so close to the sea and coastal path. The cottage was quiet and the bed very comfortable. The only downside was the bathroom, there is a new shower but the water pressure is very low. It’s a great base for walking the coast path and situated very near a bus stop, so you don’t need to take the car. Pub opposite. What more do you want? I would recommend Balmaiden’s Cottage.

The evening of the day I arrived, Saturday 13th April, there was a Cornish gale which lasted 48 hours. Winds and rain lashed the cottage almost day and night, and opening the front door was a dangerous adventure. None of this would have been an issue if the property (downstairs) had not been plagued by draughts. This resulted in my feeling I was sat in a large colander, with cold air coming under the front door, through the keyhole, and around the sides of the door. Worse still was the savage draught that came in from behind the window seat, immediately adjacent to the sofa. By 9pm I had wrapped myself in a duvet to keep warm, as the wind screamed through every gap like a possessed animal. I would recommend some actions to remedy these faults, as Cornish gales are not unknown until at least May sometimes, and the cottage is let all year round. Also, perhaps a little more wood (logs) could be provided for the log burner. The ones that were left for me lasted about an hour as I sat wrapped in my duvet and trying to avoid hypothermia. Apart from the I found the cottage a lovely place to escape to for a week, with a well equipped bathroom and kitchen and comfortable lounge and bedroom. The views from the outside back are amazing, open fields and the Atlantic in the distance. As for parking, I did not want to risk trying to squeeze the Ford Focus in such a tight spot, but parking out the front opposite the cottage was perfect for unloading and loading. So, overall I have given an 8 for comfort and value for money, but on the other points I have given a 10. Worth a visit, as long as there is no chance of a Cornish gale!
