It is situated in the  little village of Crosscannonby ½ mile from the sand and shingle beach between Allonby and Maryport. Allonby is a typical quaint seaside town with surf bar cafes and ice cream parlour and Maryport has a harbour marina and more amenities. The accommodation is stylishly furnished with a mix of modern and antique and has excellent facilities with 3 bathrooms a well equipped kitchen and ample parking. Although there are a couple of steps into the bungalow once inside the accommodation is all on ground floor and with the benefit of a wet room guests with mobility problems will find it most convenient. The garden is a peaceful haven for relaxation with great views including stunning sunsets. The quiet country lanes in this peaceful corner of Cumbria are perfect for cycling and the nearby beach is ideal for walking the dog. Access to the Lake District is an easy 20 minute drive.     Absolutely amazing place ... home from home very clean and comfortable very well equipped views are amazing lots of space inside and out

    This was a third visit and still most enjoyable. We had a problem with a curtain rail collapsing but after one phone call the problem was dealt with rapidly and efficiently, that morning. I feel confident that any problem that may arise will be resolved quickly and in a friendly manner. After three visits the gardener now recognises us and stops for a chat with typical Cumbrian friendliness.

    Fabulous cottage all on one level and well equipped. The view was stunning. We had elderly person with mobility difficultit's. The only thing that would have improved place was a rail in the wet room shower or even providing a shower stool.

    Beautiful and spacious cottage. Wonderful views over the solway estuary. Very well equipped to a high standard and very comfortable. Only negatives are the overall cleanliness (dirty utensils, uncleaned grill and lots of cobwebs) Wifi was very poor and tv signal poor in bedrooms. If you have children, there is very little around the area to interest them, especially teenagers! With this in mind, around the 1000 for the week doesn't seem good value for money

    Beautiful views, lovely bungalow, very well equipped. However maintenance much needed around the bungalow and garden. Horrendous smell in double bedroom , informed by the cleaner who we met as the key safe was broken that she had reported this on several occasions. Drains were blocked with debris outside which I believe contributed to the smell. Very dissapointing that this issue had not been dealt with. It tarnished a otherwise wonderful stay.

    Balamar is a lovely cottage with plenty of space and great facilities. Beach and coastal cycle path at the bottom of the lane - our two pooches loved it. Plenty of dog friendly places to eat in Maryport and the fish and chips from the harbour front are excellent. If I were to be really picky, I would say that we found the Friday to Friday letting a bit of a niggle but it didn’t spoil our enjoyment of the cottage at all.

    We loved this cottage especially the views of the sea and sunsets. It was handy for visiting Maryport and Cockermouth. We had to drive to the nearest pub - The Stag but the food was good and the portions generous.
