Enjoying a peaceful setting in the grounds of Barcaldine House a 16th century mansion these holiday cottages are an ideal base from which to explore this magnificient part of the west coast of Scotland. Iona Cottage ref 29133 Tiree Cottage ref 29578and Staffa ref 30835 adjoin the owner’s home whilst Easdale Cottage ref 29134 stands detached. Close to the village of Benderloch and the sandy beach at Tralee Bay there are plenty of attractions to visit including the Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary Castle Stalker Bonawe Iron Works and Cruachan Hollow Mountain. On the doorstep to Barcaldine House is Sutherland’s Grove offering a superb range of forest trails for walking and mountain biking at Sustrans cycle track allowing miles of easy cycling for all the family whilst enjoying magnificient views and an abundance of wildlife. The nearby harbour town of Oban offers a full range of shops excellent restaurants a leisure centre and cinema. From the bustling harbour you can catch a boat to the Hebridean islands of Mull Staffa and Iona or from Port Appin you can hire a bike and take the little ferry to Lismore. Glencoe and Fort William are both a short drive away and offer excellent skiing walking and climbing.     We would fully recommend staying in this cottage. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. The cottage was light and airy, and very comfortable. It was well equipped. But also we had use of the table tennis, huge lawn with badminton net and barbecue outside. It was well situated to get up to Inverness, Fort William, down to Loch Lomond and exploring all that’s in between. Nearby Oban is a lovely town with plenty of good shops. We’d recommend getting a ferry to the Isle of Mull.

    We arrived at Tiree cottage to be met by a derelict old house. The ‘cottage’ was part of a building and not what we expected. The building appeared to be in the process of being refurbished. Tiree cottage smelt of damp and although it was fairly clean, it was not as comfortable as previous cottages we have holidayed in. The accommodation was not done to a high standard. The duvet cover was still damp.

    We only stayed 1night as there was a very strong smell of cat's urine inside the front door and got stronger when the heating was on, the cottage was clean and bed was clean and comfy, also the hotel attached to the cottages had been closed for 9 years and derelict. Chris and Gillian àre working hard to try and bring the cottages up to scratch and are a lovely couple but we couldn't stay any longer. Chris and Gillian did say to us that we could come back and finish our holiday as we made an excuse to leave but the smell made it very uncomfortable to even be in the cottage

    Excellent cottage, very tastefully decorated, well furnished and equipped and spotlessly clean. A very friendly welcome and tour of the equipment from the owner and lots of nice touches such as tea and coffee sachets, handwash in the bathroom, etc. The location was quiet and peaceful yet very close to the main road, with Oban 10 miles to the south, in a very picturesque part of the west coast. Highly recommended.

    Very nice little cottage. Clean & cosy inside and a friendly welcome from the owner. The former hotel front is a bit of a sore site but the cottages round the back are very pleasant. Quiet and secluded location but still just a short drive to Oban.

    Fantastic cottage, very comfortable. It had everything we needed. Lovely grounds and cycle path nearby. Chris the owner is very friendly. The only thing missing were proper curtains in the bedrooms, as the morning light woke up our children very early.

    Cottage was very quiet and comfortable. We found the beds very hard that is a personal preference. There are no amenities within walking distance but it is only about 20 minutes drive to Oban. The surrounding scenery is magnificent and there are plenty of walks for the dogs.
