We have just spent a a very relaxing few days in Barnacle. It’s a lovely spacious house and extremely well equipped. I could not think of anything that was missing. David and Maria made us feel very welcome when they popped in on our first evening. They explained how everything worked and were quite happy for us to contact them if we had a problem. The location is perfect down a quiet no through road and the sea is just a few yards away - you can see it from the front bedroom. A perfect place to switch off from the hectic world we live in. We very much hope to return again and take advantage of the situation in the future. Our dogs loved it too! Thank you to David and Maria for allowing us to visit their house.

A wonderful place to stay. The cottage itself was beautiful and ideally situated for walks along the coast or into the surrounding woodland. Maria and David were lovely hosts and, incredibly kindly, took our shopping order in and put it away(!) when we were delayed in traffic on our first night. There are so many things to do in the surrounding areas and all are explained/leafletted at the property. Special mention to the Farmers Arms for Sunday lunch, The Rock Inn in Georgeham for weekday lunch and The Glorious Oyster in Instow. We'll be back in the Spring.

We had a wonderful fortnight at Barnacles. Maria and David could not have been better or more generous owners. They live nearby and were on hand (without being intrusive in any way) for anything we needed. The house was the best equipped I've ever been to and was packed with all sorts of things to make it feel completely like being in your own home. There's a decent little shop just a short drive up the hill and a fabulous pub, The Farmers Arms, in an adjacent village. There are other shops catering to all needs within a short drive, as well as spectacular beaches at Westward Ho!, Bude and beautiful, rugged scenery at Hartland Quay. The only thing to bear in mind is that Buck's Mills is in a deep valley so in spring and autumn, the sun dips behind the ridge quite early, but it will only bother sun-worshippers! An utterly stunning location and a wonderful house. Thank you.

Beautiful cottage, comfortably furnished, lovely welcome pack, plenty to do (including a bonus table tennis table which we weren't expecting), short (steep) hike to the beach and friendly owners - what's not to like? Local amenities are limited but we wanted somewhere quiet so that was no surprise - more than compensated by the easy access to walks and nature.

This was our second stay at Barnacle. Buck Mills is a tranquil and idyllic place for a holiday and Barnacle is the perfect place to stay – spacious, well-equipped and full of character – and only a short walk from the sea. The owners were once again very welcoming and did everything they could to ensure that we had an excellent holiday.

We had a lovely stay at Barnacle. It was very comfortable and everything was top quality. Maria and David go the extra mile to provide a lovely welcome basket and a range of kitchen essentials. There was even a first aid kit provided which measures the way they care about their guests needs. The terrace was a lovely place for sunny evenings. Lots of walks can be accessed from the property. A local shop a short drive away caters for basics. Visit the Farmers Arms a short drive away for excellent food. The cliffs at the end of the road offer fab sunset views. All in all we loved it!

We have had the most wonderful stay in Barnacle. The location is idyllic and so peaceful, day and night. The welcoming and lovely owners have thought of everything to make Barnacle a practical and luxurious ‘home from home’. The beds are really comfortable the kitchen fully equipped with everything you need. We didn’t want for anything. We loved staying there and will be back!
