A fabulously well equipped, furnished, clean & comfortable cottage. The cottage had everything we needed for our self catering week in the Lakes...the owners have thought of pretty much everything to make it feel like a real home-from-home experience, from a fully equipped kitchen, lovely furnishings and top quality bed linen & towels! The outdoor space is fabulous for a small family -our toddler loved the garden and the daily visits from the cheeky hens! Thank you for a wonderful week!

The owners Pete & Jean are very friendly but not in anyway intrusive even though they live next door. They have clearly listened to previous Guest comments and made improvements where warranted. The driveway entrance has been extended and I had no difficulty parking my 5008 (7 seater Peugeot). The property was immaculate throughout and everything worked. The welcome pack was helpful as the nearest village shop is at Levens about a ten minute car journey away. The views from most of the windows and garden of Barrow Tenement are beautiful and very peaceful. I will certainly return.

We had a fantastic weekend at Barrow Tenement, perfect location for us to visit family locally. If we had more time we would have ventured into the Lakes. Great walks from the door. And all the facilities and equipment we could have wished for. We hope to be back. Thank you.

A wonderful cottage in beautiful surroundings. The cottage was immaculate inside and the owner had left a few welcoming goodies! The area was beautiful with daffodils, damson trees in blossom, lambs and mountains. We had a lovely walk from the cottage up to the "Lords Seat". In the evening. you can walk to the local pub.....good food and drink ( can recommend the damson gin and tonic!!!) The cottage is in a quiet location, but is easy to get to Lake Windermere, where you can hire boats etc and the various mountain walks, including Scafel Pike.

A really charming characterful cottage. Ideal for two couples who want privacy. Well equipped, comfortable with a lovely garden and beautiful views. Very difficult to find in the dark as we didn’t have the correct phone number.

We stayed over Christmas. Lovely cottage throughout and recently modernised to a high standard. The actual photos online don't do the place justice, it is much better in reality. Open plan kitchen / diner with TV and log burner downstairs with separate living area with TV upstairs. Great to have an area separate from the kids ! We also found the parking adequate with a van and two cars parked outside. Would highly recommend. Only minor is for when cooking we could of done with a deep roasting tin and Yorkshire pudding/ muffin tin and a decent whisk!

This is a beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Away from the crowds and in an idyllic setting - the Lakes are an added bonus. Great for a family and wonderful to get back to after a day out. The facilities are perfect - a real home from home but in a very special place. Pete and Jean are great hosts and you’d never guess this is only 5 months into their venture here. We hope to be back.

We found the cottage to be full of charm and sparkling clean, with high quality furnishings. The sofas are amazing and the beds very comfortable with beautiful bedding. An added bonus was the provision of washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and soap powder, as we forgot to bring these. The bedroom arrangement gives privacy to two couples as there is a twin room downstairs, with a toilet and wash basin, and a double en suite upstairs, with a separate sitting room. There is only one shower, (in the en suite) which meant five of us took turns, however there is also a bath in a family bathroom upstairs. There is a spacious garden out the back with a lovely view. The kind owners live next door and couldn't be more helpful. They even left us two huge bags of apples! I would thoroughly recommend Barrow Tenement to anyone who likes top quality self catering. Tip: the Lyth Country Inn serves great food in a lovely restaurant. Try it early in the week as you'll want to return.
