Myself, husband and 2 children ages 11 & 5 years visited Beach Cottage in the February half term holiday! The owner is very friendly and lives next door but doesn’t bother you but there if needed . We were greeted with homemade scones and sweet treats on arrival which was very kind and they tasted wonderful! The cottage itself is full of character a little old worldly so to speak but it didn’t bother us even though the tv is very dated I can see why it hasn’t been updated due the style of the cottage, but it didn’t bother us anyway ! The cottage was spacious and well equipped however the only problem was there was no heating upstairs but heaters were available to plug in and warm up-rooms if needed. The great thing for me was that the twin room where the children stayed is downstairs so it was warmer for them! The location of the cottage is quiet but very picturesque with the sea just yards away! It was lovely watching the sunset on an evening from the master bedroom ! The village is friendly and has a shop which we didn’t visit and a cafe which we also didn’t visit but wee we heard did nice food and served alcohol on an evening over the weekend ! I had researched the area before I booked the cottage and although Port William is a little village it is in a very beautiful scenic area, only a short ride from the shores of Monreith and Isle of Whithorn. We visited Port Patrick which I’d say is well worth a visit just for the scenery and the The Crown Hotel do great food in a cosy atmosphere ! There seemed to be lots to do in the area all along the southwest coast but a lot of places were closed during the winter months but I’d imagine would be great to visit in the spring/Summer! We did get to visit a great unique place at Creetown called the gem rock museum which I’d highly recommend for a few hours visit! With rocks and gems from all around the world it kept us all interested and amazed and it also had a lovely cafe serving home cooked food. I’d love to visit Beach cottage again but maybe a different time of year. I’d recommend staying here and you won’t be disappointed for the views alone!

We had a very warm welcome from the owner with fresh flowers and home baked goodies and tea on arrival. The cottage was warm and comfortable with great views of the sea. the garden is beautiful. Opposite us was a children's playground and grass to walk the dog, along with a pebble beach. Port William is a quiet place with a few shops but was the perfect situation for our holiday. We visited the Mull of Galloway, the Galloway forest and Threave castle along with other interesting towns and stunning coastline. Despite very mixed weather there was plenty for us to do every day.
