The cottage is well kept, very clean with more crockery and utensild than I have in my home! It is ideally situated with a short, very pleasant walk into the market square but with attractive semi rural views. There are several attractive walks nearby. One thing I really liked was the fact that there are ample benches by footpaths and also around the town - a boon if you need frequent rests. On that note , the stairs in the cottage are steep and might prove difficult for someone with mobility problems but otherwise a perfect place to spend a holiday.

Beck cottage is in a fantastic location for enjoying both the vale of York and the north Yorkshire Moors. Although it is only a couple of minutes walk into the main market square, the green it is situated on is very peaceful and quiet giving the best of both worlds to those staying there. The cottage was spotlessly clean and the kitchen had all the facilities required if you want to cook. However, there are plenty of restaurants and takeaways close by. We hope to return as a week was just not long enough.

Although a nice cottage inside we were disturbed by youths at the walk way to the side of the cottage on several occasions At one point a resident called the police We found this unnerving

Thirsk, lovely Market town. Enjoyed our stay. Ideal for touring, clean and cosey cottage. Felt Bathroom would benefit an extractor fan and missed shaving mirror with light and socket. Would love to stay there again . Best Wishes Bernice and John.

A lovely cottage, ideally situated for the town and also for visiting attractions such as Castle Howard, York etc. The cottage was really cosy, lovely and warm, spotlessly clean and very well appointed. If we had anything negative to say it would be that the bathroom is downstairs (the two bedrooms occupy both upstair rooms) the metal frame beds squeak quite loudly each time you turn over, and the dining chairs and the sofa/chairs are very low backed - not very supportive. But putting this into context, this cottage is compact on the outside, but doesn't feel like that on the inside, it has a super kitchen with every item you could ever need, and it's very handy for local amenities and the shops.
