The beck still provides mooring to several Cobles local name for the regions fishing boats in a web of ropes and buoys. It has uninterrupted sea views of the bay and out to sea and is surrounded by high craggy cliffs at the side and rear of the property. It has recently been fully renovated into a spacious modern 3 bedroomed property. It has been lovingly decorated and furnished to a high standard and is an ideal base for families looking for a coastal retreat or dog walkers and keen ramblers. Such a beautiful location and a cosy cottage. We loved our long weekend stay and will definitely be back!

A lovely cottage; in a picturesque location. The kitchen was very well equipped with all we needed for cooking, the living room was very cosy of an evening sitting in the comfortable chairs enjoying the glow from the wood-burning fire; thank you for the starter pack of wood. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated; once the shutters were closed a restful sleep was easy due to the darkness and quietness of the location. We even had the excitement of our neighbour, the RNLI being called out one evening. The local pubs provided good food and beer/wine at reasonable prices. And we also enjoyed the coffee and cake shops. We managed various walks; taking the bus to Whitby and walking back to Staithes along the coastal path, to and from Runswick Bay and in the other direction, to and from Skinningrove. PS: there were plenty of spare bulbs in the cottage should we ever have needed them!

Definitely go and stay at Beckside. It is a novel experience and very comfortable and interesting and immediately you have a feel of being ‘away from it all’. The owners have thoughtfully equipped the place and we had all we needed. We did have to clean a couple of things on arrival ... but this didn’t stop us settling in. Soon we felt as if it was our home. Spectacular views and sounds of the incoming /outgoing tides. Good to observe action from the RNLI. Walks along the cliffs nearby yielded blackberries and spectacular views and a wonderful swept feeling. The nearby attractions are worth visiting for the experience of imagining what they were like on their hey days eg Scarborough and Whitby. Bempton Cliffs ESSENTIAL if you like birds. Many seals at Ravenscar if you’re good at scrambling down slippery paths. All in all a great location for recharging batteries in autumn and now we are on our way back to sunny Bournemouth .. where it certainly feels warmer in temperature. I really would thoroughly recommend it for physical rest and mental/emotional restoration. Don’t expect to get much done - I brought books and knitting and painting equipment but hardly looked at it !

No Wi-fi! Several Light bulbs out, including the one in the main bathroom which has no window, so showers in the dark. info in cottage tells you to call the caretaker if any issues. There is no phone or Wi-fi signal in the cottage! Several voicemails and texts made to the caretaker. No response. Rang agency... they rang the landlord. He couldn’t ring me as guess what? There is no phone signal in the cottage. He couldn’t text, as there is no Wi-fi signal in the cottage!!! He left a voicemail which I only picked up once we’d left Staithes telling us to go out and buy new lightbulbs. Staggering. Never again......

We loved this holiday cottage. It was very clean and well equipped and newly decorated with nice comfortable furniture. The location was lovely, right at the end of the road at the start of the breakwater. Staithes is a lovely location and there are shops including a coop.
