It’s the small things that need to be sorted. No tea, coffee or milk every cottage I have stayed in have always had small amounts to get you going. The heating upstairs did not work and there was a small amount of toilet paper. There is no instructions on how to work things within the cottage. No spare key. No instructions on when the bins are emptied. The parking is hit and miss. The road is very busy. There is a smell in the kitchen which gets stronger as the week goes on.

Great Christmas holiday in a very welcoming well decorated and fully furnished for all our needs. Ideally situated for local amenities and a touring base. We will go back.

Almost bedsit like in layout, but cosy and suitable for a base to explore the surrounding area. Unexpected view from kitchen and bedroom. Was adequate for a weekend stay for 2. Slight issue with foul smell from kitchen sink/cupboard that was off-putting, and noisy road outside.

Bell Cottage was super, super clean, warm and within 3 minutes walk of the village center, parking was not really a problem as we parked more or less opposite, there is also a local pub called the ( bitter end ) on the same street as the cottage which serves fantastic food till 9pm, all the natives seemed friendly, and we had a great 4 day stay, and we would stay again all the best, G & C from stockport

I think the parking could be a problem in the school holidays but overall Bell Cottage is in a good location for Cockermouth, pubs, shops, tearooms all in walking distance. It would be nice if they had a childs gate on the stairs as tho it is dog friendly they specifically ask the dogs not to go upstairs but being open plan the stairs which are in the living room are accessible to the dogs we ended up putting our suitcase across the stairs which wasn't great. Overall we enjoyed our holiday.

Bell cottage is in a great location in Cockermouth for local amenities. Despite concerns about parking we needn't have worried as there was always a space across the road. Plus the back up of a visitors parking permit. We loved visiting the Lakes and explored the area every day with our 2 dogs. We would definitely stay at Bell Cottage again

    great cottage

It was a lovely cottage. It could have done with being a bit cleaner, there were thick dust on the skirting boards and the sheets on the bed, when we arrived were full of stains and the bed wasn't clean. But they did get changed after we told the local office. There were dirty marks on the wall in the bathroom, and one of the towels still had the last persons makeup on, I did tell the local office about the towel, but when they changed the bed they didn't change the towel. and the oven in the kitchen wasn't clean. But in all it was a lovely place, and in a very good position for all shops and restaurants.
