Pleasantly situated overlooking the duck pond in the pretty ‘wolds’ village of North Dalton, this attractive, comfortably furnished Georgian cottage provides an ideal base for exploring the area. On-site with two other cottages, it enjoys shared use of an outdoor swimming pool, hard tennis court and a walled orchard garden. Walkers will enjoy the local footpaths including the ‘Minster Way’ and ‘Wolds Way’ and dogs are allowed to exercise on designated farm fields. The duck pond opposite the cottage supports a variety of wildlife, and the surrounding area is home to a wealth of scenic and historic places of interest. The great houses of Sledmere and Burton Agnes are both within 10 miles as is the watersports centre at Brandesburton. Castle Howard, the magnificent setting for TVs Brideshead Revisited, and Goathland, the setting for the TV series Heartbeat, are within an hour’s drive. The Deep in Hull, Eden Camp, Flamingo Land, Pickering with the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, Bridlington’s sandy bay, RSPB Bempton Cliffs and the historic city of York with excellent shopping, medieval architecture, railway museum and the fascinating Jorvik Museum are all about 20 miles. Touring the unspoilt Yorkshire Wolds by car is a pleasure in itself. Golf 7 miles. Shop 3 miles. Pub within walking distance.
