    Bellman Houses are set in the wonderful countryside of the Winster Valley, in 120 acres of working farmland, and yet just a 5-minute drive from Bowness-on-Windermere. Stunning views over Lake Windermere towards Great Langdale can be seen on the single track approach, with wonderful local walks direct from the doorstep. Bellman Houses have been owned for three successive generations by the same family, and their sympathetic extensive restoration over the years, using traditional methods and materials reflect the local custom and heritage evident today. The Main House (ref 30863) sleeps 6/7, and is a 16th-century, Grade II listed former farmhouse that retains many original features with timber walls, flagstone floors, beamed ceilings, original fireplaces and the original oak panelling between the bedrooms. The Cottage (ref 30864) sleeps 3 and has stunning, rural views from almost every room. Fell View Cottage with its cosy wood burner and super kingsize four poster bed is ideal for a romantic breakaway. On the site can be found a wonderful example of a spinning gallery in the traditional ’Bank Barn’, one of only a handful of surviving examples in the UK. Beach 12 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles. The Main House (ref 30863) and The Cottage (ref 30864) have an interconnecting door and can be booked together to accommodate up to 11 guests. The Cottage (30864) can be booked together with The Main House (30863) and Fell View Cottage (UK1215) to accommodate up to 13 guests.

    Lovely, historic cottage in a beautiful setting. There are amazing views over Windermere and mountains from the grounds and some good views from the cottage. All was very well presented except we were disappointed about the very poor quality, worn out, concave, single room mattress. (There was some recompense from our complaint) The kingsize bed was good quality and we were told it was new to the cottage. Everything else was great, well equipped and nicely presented and warm and cosy. The locked, adjoining door to the next property's hallway, straight from the kitchen, could do with some insulation to prevent drafts and hearing conversation from next door's hallway but people don't linger in the entrance hall. I'd love to stay there again if the single mattress has been replaced. It's a great place to stay. Some people might not like the unmade access road but it was fine for us and had some maintenance done while we were there - clearly it's not neglected.

    Beautiful, extremely rural location but only 15min from Bowness. Ideal for kids. You can let then run and run without any fear of traffic, just lots of sheep! Lovely traditional property. Thick walls, good heating, nice sized main bedroom and living room. More than enough space in main bedroom for the travel cot (provided for free, which was great) and suitcases. Had some issues contacting them about picking up keys but did work out. Fridge didn't seem to be completely working, but otherwise facilities great.
