The cottage could do with a bit of TLC. But was clean and well equipped, including drying room for wet walking/dog gear. Kay was very easy to deal with and very accommodating. A cosy cottage ideal for s countryside get away.

Benvane Cottage set within beautiful surroundings. Great local pub which also serves food. A short drive away to Callander, a lovely local town with independent shops and eateries, and a little further to Stirling. The cottage is well equipped and warm. The dogs loved it too. A great stay over Christmas and hope to return during the Summer.

Beautiful location, warm and cosy cottage. Some general maintenance would be beneficial. However we enjoyed our stay and would return.

The cottage has a fantastic location however it needs an upgrade in certain areas to improve the overall quality. Firstly the garden and pathway to the cottage need improving as you have to duck under the conifer trees to stay on the single slab pathway. The trees just need cutting back which would also open up the parking area to prevent parking on a muddy area. Widening the path would also help. A security light over the front entrance should be a must especially with the steps. The interior layout was very good especially as we have dogs however the drying room could do with a major tidy up and it states that it independently heated but we were unable to find any which meant drying our wet gear difficult. Within the main rooms the heating system wasn’t working on the timer system but the owner did tell us how to override it. Once on, the cottage warmed up quickly despite radiators in some rooms not working efficiently, the whole system just requires bleeding. It seems that the cottage depends on the previous occupants cleaning on their departure. Unfortunately on our arrival the kitchen floor was not clean and some of the worktops left sticky and there was a peculiar smell in the fridge. Most of the above are cosmetic problems that can easily be remedied. Despite this the cottage has a cosy feel especially the living room and bedrooms. None of the problems spoiled our enjoyment of the holiday. The location means that you can walk directly from the cottage. The owner has provided lots of information to facilitate this. We particularly enjoyed the inclusion of the CD player to help get away from tv viewing. The neighbours are also very friendly and welcoming.

Nice position. Cosy, well positioned for walks and cycling. Would be lovely in the summer and nice weather. Unfortunately it rained heavily on our week there. It could do with a new tv as the picture flashes constantly. Would like to stay again.

Lovely cottage with fabulous views. Short walk to cafe, pub and village shop or into the forest and round the Loch. 9 steps to main door could be a problem for some people. On the whole comfortable, relaxing and convenient for so many places and activities!

Great location and ideal dog walking. On the surface this cottage is cosy and comfortable but scratch the surface and problems appear ! The owner takes no responsibility for any of them and when reported it's your problem to resolve not theirs. This was our third visit and the third time we encountered difficulties. We've returned due to the location and the fact that it does take two dogs, and the locals are very friendly. The cottage is not particularly clean and as you are required to clean before leaving, it appears to depend on the previous occupants ! A mouldy mince pie was found at the side of the cooker and an unknown object covered in dirt behind the radiator in the bathroom. Food was found stuck to some utensils and the sponge left for washing up was covered in hairs. We fell foul of the owner on this occasion when she entered the property unannounced with no forewarning. We did leave our dogs unattended for one hour whilst shopping. as it was a boiling hot day and the dogs would have suffered from heat stroke if left in the car. The owner admitted that they were very well behaved, friendly dogs but reported us. It was an invasion of our privacy and when we tried to speak to her she was unreasonable and argumentative. She even complained that we'd left a bedroom door open ! . I have recommended this cottage for the reasons stated but be prepared !

A lovely little cottage in a picturesque area.

The photo and description led us to believe that this cottage was out in the woods, and private. This was not the case, as the other9 houses within 200 yards are not mentioned at all. There is nothing that a £5000 upgrade would not sort out. The garden was very uncempt, the heating did not work, and the general appearance would put it into the £350 to £375 price range.

The positives about the cottage were it’s beautiful, quiet location, very close to nice walks and a cycle route. The Broche cafe nearby was lovely. The cottage was neutrally decorated and the bedrooms were a good size. The kitchen was really well equipped and the boot room was great. The negatives were that the decorating could do with a bit of updating and the TV and DVD players are very old.
