Berryhill cottage is very much what it says on the tin; secluded yet within easy access of main roads. A really well equipped kitchen and enough room for two. The cottage is in great condition and really well looked after. It was a delight to have the chickens and guinea fowl wandering about and it was great to see concerted effort to manage energy usage - the owners have an impressive solar setup.

Berryhill Cottage is in a lovely quiet location set amidst beautiful countryside, the perfect spot for a nice relaxing holiday. The garden is visited by a variety of birds, and it is interesting just to sit there and watch their antics sometimes. The nearest town is Duns, which is about a twenty minutes drive away, and there are many pretty villages in the area. The local people are genuinely friendly and helpful. There are plenty of restaurants and hotels in Duns and the other towns nearby if you want to eat out. My wife and I spent an enjoyable week there visiting antique and craft shops, and generally relaxing.

This is the third time we have stayed at Berryhill for Christmas. We love the cottage, the location and everything about it apart from one thing. This time we were charged via meter for electricity used for the week. This totalled £25 for the week and I felt we were always very conscious of the fact we were on a meter. I would much prefer if a charge was added to the overall cost to cover electricity as in previous years. I don’t go to a hotel, pay an overnight rate and then get charged for the electricity I’ve used! Even caravan holidays no longer meter the energy used. I must admit it did annoy us a tiny bit but overall, we still had the best Christmas ever! I’ll ensure I read the small print next time we book any cottage! Thanks!

The only downer was being asked to pay for the electricity used.-would have been happier paying more than having to try and calculate how much we had used-Lovely peaceful place-needs better directions or they get the sign fixed at the road end Lovely people

Amazing location, beautiful cottage. Ideal if you are looking for a total getaway from it all break. No WiFi but mobile network available. Welcome gifts on arrival were a welcome sight after a 3 hour drive and the dog biscuits which welcomed Jorgie our pooch soon disappeared although she may have buried some hoping for a biscuit tree. Owners were very friendly and only saw them on first day. Ideal for wildlife spotting and relaxed whilst watching the birds on the feeder and even managed to capture a picture of a woodpecker and save a blue hit which managed to find its way down the chimney into the stove. The sooty little fella or girlie soon flew off in the hope of having a bath and some food. Bed was so comfortable and best weeks sleep we've ever had. Few tears from myself when we had to leave. Needed longer in the cottage and will definitely be back.
