All on the level and fringed by cobbled pedestrian walkways lined with cafes, bars and interesting shops, Windermere comes alive in the evening to offer an eclectic mix of international cuisine and some super cocktail bars with further nightlife on hand in nearby Bowness, a mile and half down the road.

    Stylish accommodation here at Birchthwaite, all on one level, has been thoughtfully put together with up to the minute decor, comfortable furnishings, a well fitted kitchen and bathroom to ensure you can get the very best out of your stay. With private, secure off street parking there is little need to use the car as Windermere is well served by a host of public transport options including railway, open top bus, mountain goat and the famous Windermere Lake Steamers.

    Suited us perfectly, a great find - plenty of space for a family of 4 and spot on location. The only thing is the mattress in the main bedroom was a bit too firm so gave us both a bad back.

    Well kitted our for short stays, with tumble drier and washing machine a real bonus. Not ultra modern but clean and functional. Dedicated undercover parking bay very handy given close proximity to Windermere shops/cafes/bars. Would stay again

    Excellent home-from-home. Very comfortable, clean and quiet. Lovely view from living room. Secure parking through automatic gates. In all, a lovely base that we hope to return to in the future. Also, very good value for money! We were sorry to leave!

    Excellent 1st floor accommodation for 2 adults with good undercover secure gated parking, situated in quiet part of Windermere behind High Street. Apartment has all you need in the kitchen as well as a hairdryer in main bedroom. Useful Ordnance survey maps in lounge re all lake district area. Good that it does not have Wi-Fi......you are on holiday!!! TV is limited on basic freeview channels.

    Great location and good value for money. Bedrooms very small but fine for the stay. Would expect fridge and water supply to be on rather than having to trawl through information and cupboards. Nevertheless only minor points and would stay again.

    We had a lovely stay in Birchthwaite, a very comfortable flat extremely close to local restaurants and shops with great parking facilities as the surrounding streets are very difficult to park on.

    Birchthwaite is a lovely 2 bed 1st floor apartment, with nice modern decor and a private parking space for one car (parking isn't great on the street). You will find everything you need, utensils, pans, cleaning products etc. The master bedroom mattress is now very comfortable, so discard this when reading older reviews. No there isn't wi-fi but I don't see this as a problem, you're on holiday not sat in the apartment all day! Since the photo, the owners have also added a modern electric fire in the lounge which makes it cosier in the evenings. The TV has basic channels 1-5 and there is a DVD player with a selection of films, a few books, jigsaws, maps of the area. The apartment is situated in the centre of Windermere close to shops and restaurants and its just a 5 minute drive / bus ride or 20 minute walk down to the next town Bowness-on-Windermere, where you can jump on the ferries that go up and down the lake. We will be staying there again soon.

    3rd stay. We have always enjoyed the flat-it's comfortable,well equipped,and in a very handy location. Note!there is no Wifi,not a problem for us know,but some may find this an issue.
