A good base for exploring York and surrounding area. V well furnished and equipped. Welcoming package v generous. The accommodation is of good size (our party was 5 adults and a small poodle). Would certainly return.

We had a fantastic few days here, a pre Christmas girlie family get together! The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay, it was very clean, comfy beds with luxury bedding. The welcome gift was a lovely touch.

Forgot to write in book but excellent cottage. Got lost in the dark but once there really lively location. Everything thought out carefully and a lively welcome hamper - wine very gratefully received after a long journey up from kent. Highly recommend cottage for a great stay.

Great 4 day break visiting family. Cottage was fantastic plenty if room for us all. Woodland grounds beautiful even in November, our dog loved it too. Homely touches were greatly appreciated, especially the hamper of goodies. We would love to stay again soon.

enjoyable week with our daughter and 10 month old granddaughter;beautiful woodland setting.Spacious cottage, well equipped, comfortable beds.Only issue was temperamental heating;v hot at times and some radiators not even warm in our bathroom, so quick baths! The other main thing to report are the poor directions to find this cottage. The "white house" is just not there as per instructions!!All that is needed is an actual clear additional sign on the main house gate stating "Birchwood Stable Cottage".It would be v difficult to find on a dark winter's afternoon without new clear signage.

Birchwood Stable Cottage is a lovely wooden building. The owners are a charming couple as are their children and nothing seems too much troulbe for their quests. It is a little remote being down about a mile down a minor road, but the cottage setting is wonderful should you not mind the comparative isolation. A car is really necessary unless you might be avid walkers as the village is a little further away again. We enjoyed sightings of the deer, rabbits and squirrels not to forget the woodpecker! All in all we had a comfortable four weeks visiting old friends and relatives and visiting new areas. i.e. the dales and moors to the north of Yorkshire

The cottage was exactly as the pictures showed and described. It was a great location - rural and peaceful but within very easy reach of York and large supermarkets. The cottage was so comfortable. The beds were very comfortable and great to sleep in. When we arrived there was a great welcome pack with tea, coffee, biscuits, wine and chocolate. We were also given some fresh eggs. We had a great holiday including seeing some deer and would gladly return.
