Birchwood Stable Cottage is a lovely wooden building. The owners are a charming couple as are their children and nothing seems too much troulbe for their quests. It is a little remote being down about a mile down a minor road, but the cottage setting is wonderful should you not mind the comparative isolation. A car is really necessary unless you might be avid walkers as the village is a little further away again. We enjoyed sightings of the deer, rabbits and squirrels not to forget the woodpecker! All in all we had a comfortable four weeks visiting old friends and relatives and visiting new areas. i.e. the dales and moors to the north of Yorkshire

The cottage was exactly as the pictures showed and described. It was a great location - rural and peaceful but within very easy reach of York and large supermarkets. The cottage was so comfortable. The beds were very comfortable and great to sleep in. When we arrived there was a great welcome pack with tea, coffee, biscuits, wine and chocolate. We were also given some fresh eggs. We had a great holiday including seeing some deer and would gladly return.

Great place to stay in a peaceful and wooded area. The cottage was very clean and had a pleasant atmosphere, with living and lunging and bedrooms upstairs with a great use of a balcony to watch the various wildlife The downstairs was the kitchen and dining area , which also had clear views onto the patio and garden It was a very comfortable and relaxing stay and we would certainly consider re visiting

Fantastic cottage, with everything you need and some lovely touches on arrival. Have been before and will definitely go again.

Tranquil. Easy access to York. We saw a deer with fawn near to the cottage which was special.

The cottage was lovely well equipped with some lovely additional touches which helped to make you feel at home. The 3 bathrooms were an added bonus for 5 adults who were all trying to get ready for a family wedding in Elvington.

This is an idyllic cottage, situated in a remote location, surrounded by woodland and farmland. You can hear the train from the property, but it isn't close enough to disturb sleep. The tennis courts are in need of some tlc...but we enjoyed them.....nevertheless.

A warm, comfortable holiday let in a peaceful location. This cottage is decorated and equipped to an excellent standard topped off with a lovely welcome pack from the owner. A fantastic place to relax in a beautiful rural setting but also convenient for visiting York.

Excellent location, close to York but in the countryside. Fabulous wood to explore with its own herd of deer and pheasants. Cottage larger than shown in photographs. Very comfortable beautiful sound of birdsong when you open the door. A great find!

A fantastic cottage to see in the New Year. It was much bigger in real life than the pictures online. The location was perfect. We saw deers on numerous occasions whilst having a cup of tea sat around the kitchen table.

Fantastic weekend using the cottage for our base for visiting York, which was easy to get to via park and ride and taxi. The cottage was beautifully fitted out, very clean, had everything you could need, was home From home. Lovely welcome basket, milk in the fridge etc. Wouldn’t hesitate to return and recommend to friends.
