• About Bluebell

Enjoying a pretty coastal village setting and just 500 yards from the sweeping sands of one of England’s finest beaches, these cottages are part of Town Farm Cottages which were created from a 17th century stable and coach house. An ideal holiday base, these attractive, cosy and comfortable properties, five of which we offer here, sit on a courtyard in the heart of Beadnell village, a popular venue for water sports enthusiasts and boasting a picturesque harbour as well as a shop and two pubs serving food – all within a few yards’ stroll. Two miles to the north, Seahouses offers a variety of shops and tea rooms, a leisure centre and superb golf course, and boats depart regularly from its working harbour for fishing trips or to visit the Farne Islands’ famous seal colonies and bird sanctuaries. A further 3 miles up the spectacular coastline, a deservedly recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, lies Bamburgh – dominated by its splendid castle – whilst the causeway leading to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne is a little further. An easy 12 mile drive south reaches the market town of Alnwick with its castle, renowned as the film location for Hogwarts School and beside it, Alnwick Gardens, an exciting contemporary space featuring gloriously vivid planting, stunning water displays and one of the largest tree houses in the world. A wide variety of day trips from exploring the historic towns of the Scottish borders to shopping at Newcastle’s Metro Centre are also easily accessible.

It was quite chilly in the cottage and I couldn't find a way to turn up the heating. The front door is drafty (there are gaps between the door and the frame) and the oven is quite complicated to work. The sofas are nice but not the most comfortable. The bedroom and bathroom are very nice though with a lovely walk in shower. The location is great through, being so close to the beach and between major sites like Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh castles was ideal for me.

We had to fight to get refund due to no heating in the property despite being December. Unable to contact owner to get heating sorted. Completely spoiled our weekend. Location was good as were amenities. Too cold to stay in cottage. Very disappointed.

A very pleasant stay, the bed was not as comfortable as some and an electric razer point would be an advantage.

cottage is a good size but poorly presented, some maintenance issues, wobbly tables, wobbly towel rails broken taps, lack of cleaning materials, all pervading pungent doggie smell, a godd while since it was effectively cleaned, no way of adjusting heating rakes forever for water to run hot. Beadnell is a lovely place but stay in other accomodation would be my advice

We don’t normally go on holiday during the main holidays but we decided to do so this year and never having stayed in Northumberland we chose this property as being suitable for our needs. On a very positive note the cottage was very well situated for looking around the area. It is a few minutes walk to lovely beaches. The local pub, the Craster arms is very close, lovely for food, drink and has a lovely beer garden. There is a small shop a few minutes walk away for essentials. The WI hall around the corner has a coffee morning on a Wednesday, £1.50 buys you a coffee and small cake. On a negative, the cottage is rather tired and needs some TLC. For example there was several stains on the bed alone with a tear on the mattress sheet. Also there was only three knives in the drawer, ok for us as there was only myself and my wife but with a family of four it would have been a problem. The hall carpet was badly stained, could easily have been cleaned. This property could easily be sorted out. Parking was also a problem. It looked like there was space for one car per property, we had a problem parking as a couple of properties had two cars. And finally we made a mistake booking this property as we had our two dogs with us. We should have realised we couldn’t let the dogs out, we should have booked a house with an enclosed garden.
