    Stockghyll is an area of pretty woodland and tumbling waterfalls cascading from Red Screes above the Ambleside village and the lake below. The Falls are set in one and half acres of grounds and landscaping on the former site of the old Bobbin Mill. The original buildings have been converted to luxury cottages and apartments with the addition of new accommodation being built in the same slate and stone to blend sympathetically into the area. The Falls are a superb base for local, country and woodlands walks with Ambleside village a short stroll away and Langdale Pike within four miles.     Walking up the hill up to the cottage was a killer for me.

    This cottage was let to us as a replacement for Foxlowe cottage which had a boiler problem. although slightly less convenient for walking into town we found it more than an adequate replacement and was comfortable and well equipped. Big disappointment was the amount of bottles, cans and rubbish left at the front of the property by previous occupants. The rubbish was not removed until the end of our holiday week.

    Hygienically the property was very unclean. Crusted stale food on trivets in the kitchen. Foul stench and rotting food in the dish washer. Huge hair balls in both bathroom plug holes.

    Modern and clean inside. Traditional slate finish outside. Good range of facilities and comfortable rooms ensured we had a pleasant, albeit short, stay. Ambleside is well positioned for exploring the Lake District.

    Bobbin Cottage is comfortable, clean and well equipped for six people. The excellent location is ideal for the numerous local amenities and exploring the southern lakes. wouldn't hesitate to recommend this accommodation.
