Bourne Cottage is a spacious property, set back from the road. The property is set in the middle of it’s grounds and virtually secluded. The kitchen is large and includes a dining area which overlooks the back garden with doors leading to the large patio with garden table and chairs. From the garden, the road traffic can be heard, although this was not an issue inside the property. Our group was made up of three families, including two dogs. The lounge area had three large and comfortable sofas and there was access to one of the downstairs bedrooms from the lounge, which was useful. Prior to booking we had enquired about the WiFi as this was a necessity for several of our group. We were informed it was all working fine. Unfortunately it wasn’t and became a daily frustration not being able to stay logged on for more than five minutes at a time. Given the property advertises for up to 12 people, this really ought to be addressed and the WiFi should be fit for purpose. The other issue was the volume on the rather small lounge TV, it sounded as though the speaker had blown which meant the volume had to be kept very low to prevent the ‘crackling’. Overall, the property suited us as we wanted to explore the north of the island. There were plenty of walks for the dogs close by, having an elderly member able to sleep downstairs was a big plus. On arrival there was a pint of milk and biscuits for us, which was a nice touch.

A lovely clean cottage with plenty of space for a large family. The owners are very kind and helpful. The Portsmouth ferry is literally two minutes down the road so no rushing on the day you leave! Will definitely visit again.

The garden was fenced but our dogs could have got out and there is a busy road running along side it. The fence in places was just 3 bars of wood. The place was perfect for all our family to stay and meet up with my sister and brother in law. Just the garden and walking through the woods you couldn’t take your eye off the pups.

We needed a holiday cottage for 12 ranging from 2 years to 84 years. Bourne Cottage was perfect for us- plenty of room, well equipped, very clean, safe garden, plenty of parking space, easy access for local attractions. If being picky only negative was a couple of the beds were a little uncomfortable and an outside light would be useful for darker evenings but not enough to detract from an otherwise perfect cottage for our needs.

Pleasant but didn't like the layout. Major issue with insisting the morning of departure the bed linnen be collected at 08.00. We contracted to leave at 10.00 so that should be the time and not before when the cleaning starts. If the owners have problems getting linen clean they should purchase additional, if they have enough why insist on collecting at this time. We were not impressed.

My family and I recently stayed at Bourne Cottage (12 of us including a 2 year old ). We had a great time. The kitchen/diner is modern and clean. We were not disturbed by the traffic noise in the distance. The garden was a good size. We would definately return.
