A stylish and thoughtful renovation which provides attractive light and airy open-plan living with comfortable and contemporary accommodation. Much of the original character of the cottage has been retained including local slate flooring a beautiful traditional slate mantle over a centre-piece wood burner in the lounge and exposed beams in the top bedroom from where lovely views of Wansfell can be seen across the roof tops.\n\n\nBowfell is stylishly finished and well-equipped with great attention to detail. The comfortable leather sofas allow for relaxing by the fire after a day’s walking on the fells. Then the soft beds beckon with high quality linens to sink into for a good night’s sleep. The well-equipped kitchendining area which opens out to the lounge is where cooking and socialising become natural companions.\n\n\nOn a quiet back street within a minute’s stroll of central Ambleside you have easy access to shops bustling pubs cafes and a great variety of restaurants as well as a local cinema. There is plenty to do in the area from cruising down Lake Windermere on one of the famous Windermere Lake Steamers to hiking climbing mountain biking kayaking or ghyll scrambling all within easy reach of your doorstep. No matter how you pass your days the backdrop will always be the stunning fells of the Lake District National Park. Very clean, well presented and equipped property in the heart of Ambleside village. It was everything we hoped hoped for. Nice quite location, yet only 50 yard walk to the village shops. The beds were extremely comfortable and being a quite side street we were able to really relax. 3 good size beds rooms and 2 bathrooms, all to a very high standard. The only minor problem is common to all Lake District towns and that's parking. Fortunately the cottage came with 2 parking passes so once we managed to find a parking space we could leave the cars all day in the same space. We would definitely return here without a hesitation.

Lovely cottage in excellent location. Good quality crockery and plenty of kitchen appliances, cleaning equipment etc. Lots of nice touches - games, books and walking guides. .Only one minor grumble - an additional hand towel in each of the bathrooms would have been appreciated. Love the wood burning stove - but bring plenty in winter - it’s a gobbler!

Another excellent stay at Bowfell for Christmas. Great location and everything we needed. Would have been useful to know in advance that the cottage was decorated for Christmas as we took up lots of decorations with us as the description didn’t say.

A great cottage, with everything you need provided.. all in walking distance of the local shops and restaurants and pubs.. and also you don’t even need your car to access many of the great walks in the area. Very impressive.
