Bowton Cottage is a wonderful mews style barn conversion with great character, set in a quiet rural farming location, enjoying views of the open countryside. This wonderful cottage is nestled on the borders of Herefordshire and Worcestershire and dates back to the 1600s, undergoing substantial renovations during the 1990s.
The name Bowton is taken from a map of the original farm deeds dating to the 1800s. The cottage has many original and also recycled features- the stonework by the fireplace is constructed from old garden walls, and the banister on the staircase is made from the old cattle hay rack! The farm originally grew hops, along with apple, pear, cherry and walnut trees. Daffodils of all varieties were grown commercially in rows between the fruit trees in the orchards – still a fabulous sight in the spring! Nowadays it shares its residency with cattle, horses and chickens. You will be able to pick your own fresh eggs for breakfast, as well as fruit and flowers when they are in season.
Millham Farm is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and next door is the wonderful Knapp and Papermill Nature Reserve with Leigh Brook running through, giving opportunity for country walks and studying of wildlife. Bird watching is also available, especially with the beautiful Kingfisher nesting in the banks of the brook. Muntjac deer, colourful pheasants and rabbits often stray through into the paddocks and gardens.
Bowton wonderfully mixes Swedish decor with traditional. The ground floor has a traditional wood burner for cosy evenings and a classic stone floor. Upstairs is a large four poster bed and antique furniture. Outside, you will find a patio area with BBQ and table and chairs for 4 people.
