• About Brewlands Estate - Brewlands Cottage

Set on a 4,500 Highland estate, there are a number of passtimes available on site.

Set on a Highland estate spanning 4500 acres with hills rising to 2500ft, these four holiday properties are situated on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park with a wild flower reserve nearby, and an abundance of wildlife including ospreys and huge herds of deer. For 300 years Cistercian Monks spent half of each year at this peaceful place, making butter and cheese and brewing beer from the pure springs that continue to feed the houses. Delightful 18th-century Clover Cottage is reached from its parking area via a short track across a stream. With its own large garden with views towards the great massif of the Grampians. Claypotts is a charming 18th-century cottage, is in an utterly peaceful glen at the heart of the estate with its own enclosed garden on the banks of the River Isla. Croft End Cottage, a 15th-century cottage lies secluded behind double hedges and is a romantic yet fabulously comfortable place perfect for explorers, lovers and honeymooners. Brewlands Cottage is a 17th-century, cosy, very comfortable property in a lovely riverside location with fishing from the garden and views of high hills and surrounding quiet countryside. There are ancient wild flower meadows with rare wild yellow violets and orchids. Red squirrels live around the gardens and the walls support rare ferns and lichens which grow only in unpolluted places. Walking from the door of each cottage. Excellent golf courses at St Andrews, Carnoustie, Gleneagles and Rosemount. Glenshee ski resort is 35 minutes, as is Pitlochry with its theatre, restaurants and kilt and cashmere shops. An adventure centre 20 minutes away, with pony trekking at Balmoral Estate and many castles and stately homes to visit: Balmoral, Glamis, Blair Atholl, Scone Palace and Braemar. Visit the famous Whisky Trail. Riding centre 6 miles. The oldest tree in Europe is in Fortingall, 1 hour. Shops 12 miles, pub 2 miles.

Sun porch. Living room with cast-iron wood-burning stove. Dining room with wood panelling. Kitchen with door to garden. Double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. First floor: Two twin bedrooms, each with low ceiling. Bathroom with toilet.

the cottage was in a wonderful place and the house keeper was very welcoming. i didnt like having to pay for firewood ,oil and electric when we had already paid a lot to stay in the cottage. The hot tub was great but at time we were not able to use it has there were too many flies around us , making it a little uncomfortable it really needs to be enclosed. The double beds was very uncomfortable . The shops were quite away to go but so long has you take everything with you its fine . The walks were lovely and we saw the red squirrel , lots of dear , rabbits and pheasants . The house keeper was always ready to help when we needed him. was a little disappointed we couldn't fish outside the cottage ,has when we read the review it said there was fishing. We did walk to one of the locks and the grandchildren enjoyed the wild swimming.

All 5 of us had a fabulous week at Brewlands cottage. The cottage location is stunning on the river with a beautiful enclosed garden which was safe for our 3 kids and dog to play happily. The cottage was very well equiped and there were many lazy days spent around the garden and in the cottage with all that was there to entertain us! We enjoyed the luxury of the hot tub as an extra treat. Glenisla is a beautiful location with amenities in Alyth which we found more that sufficient for our needs. Thank you Simon for a lovely holiday and we would heartily recommend Brewlands as a holiday location. Hopefully we'll be back!

Brewlands cottage is really nice and the the guy who runs it is really great. It’s in a lovely part of the world and we had a great time. Only niggles were the road is extremely close to the house and although the traffic is extremely light it can be quite fast and loud which can spoil the otherwise fantastic tranquility. Also the cost of the heating/electric which is extra is astronomical. Despite this though I still recommend it here as the good far outweighs the bad.

Four holidays at Brewlands Cottage. Comfortable and peaceful with plenty to do in the area. Well equipped kitchen so everything to hand. Wood burner in lounge on evening makes for a cosy end to the day. Plenty of logs in shed outside so no worry. Hot tub used each day, real treat!
