Briar Bank is a stunning Victorian House situated close to Shanklin high street; an ideal place to stay for those looking for a family home from home getaway on the south east coast of the Isle of Wight. The ground floor main living room provides the perfect place for you and your family to relax and unwind after a day exploring the island; comfortably furnished, here you can relax in front of the TV and watch a DVD, but if you can’t all agree on what to watch then there’s the second living room with a further TV, DVD player and double sofa bed. The bright modern kitchen/diner is well equipped, with a dining area seating up to four and a breakfast bar seating three. Upstairs there are three modern bedrooms: a spacious master bedroom, with a super kingsize bed; a large kingsize bedroom and a smaller room with bunk beds, which are suitable for children only. There is also a generous sized family bathroom, which includes a corner bath, where you can soak at your leisure. To the rear of the property there is a fully enclosed garden, with garden furniture, where you can enjoy your evenings. If you bring a car there is a driveway to the rear for 1-2 cars.
However, Shanklin is reachable by train through from Portsmouth, so you may decide to leave the car behind altogether. The nearby golden, sandy beaches stretch for miles, and Shanklin Esplanade is packed full of amusements and crazy golf, as well as several places to eat. Away from the beach, the main town offers a multitude of shops, cafés, bars and restaurants. The Old Village is renowned for its pretty thatched cottages, cosy tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and craft shops. The seaside town of Shanklin is well served by public transport around the island with regular buses and the railway Island Line to Ryde and Sandown. Outdoor pursuits on the island include horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, golf and water sports. There are numerous attractions across the island to discover for all ages, such as The Needles, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Blackgang Chine, Dinosaur Isle, the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park and Carisbrooke Castle are other attractions. Or why not pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens? The sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes also make for a great day out. Whatever you decide, the Isle of Wight has plenty to offer. Beach ½ mile.
