The result is a property of charm and character with a contemporary twist. This spacious cottage offers a comfortable living room with an additional mezzanine area accessed by a spiral staircase giving views over the garden. The cottage offers a kingsize bedroom on the first floor with a twin bedroom downstairs off the living room. There is a family bathroom with a separate shower and bath on the first flor and a convenient wet room downstairs. The well-equipped kitchendining room offers a bright airy spot where you can enjoy a meal surrounded by your loved ones. The garden is paved and enhanced with mature rockeries birds and even the occasional pheasant.\nAskham is a traditional Lakeland village away from the hustle and bustle of the busier northern Lake District towns and villages but with all the popular and much-loved tourist destinations close at hand. With a village shop pubs and the bonus of a public outdoor swimming pool Askham retains an authentic community feel with picturesque cottages sitting prettily amidst the two village greens. Within walking distance Askham Hall and Lowther Castle offer stunning architecture brimming with local history and delightful gardens. A short drive away you will find Lake Ullswater with steamer rides as well as the popular villages of Pooley Bridge and Glenridding which are well worth a visit. From the doorstep of the cottage there is easy access to the scenic fells surrounding the area offering walkers a multitude of routes. To the east lies the picturesque and peaceful Eden Valley which is popular with cyclists and walkers for its pretty villages with traditional pubs and cafés. To the south is Haweswater with its lakeside path and stunning scenery. Shop pub and restaurant 100 yards. " https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/140/840/1406081.jpg UK1207

Description of the wetroom is misleading on the website as it is not by or near the in the ground floor bedroom but in the corner of the kitchen area. The second bedroom is cramped for space due to an oversized wardrobe. Despite these issues, it is a lovely cottage and nice location.

Brook cottage was fantastic and very peaceful. The village was away from the hectic crowds in Keswick and Ambleside but enabled us to easily visit the hiking trails and shops in Carlisle.

Very enjoyable stay at a very comfortable and well supplied cottage.

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location, well furnished and well equipped. A very welcoming and relaxing accommodation, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen/mezzanine area is perfect for lazy hours. The master bedroom is spacious with plenty of storage space and the bathroom has a walk-in shower and bath. The twin room unfortunately is a little tight for negotiating around the beds but not a deal breaker for a weeks stay. The garden is a lovely little sun trap throughout the day, filled with birds who enjoy the feeder and awash with colour in summer. . Highly recommended and would certainly visit again.

Fabulous little cottage and spotlessly clean. Has everything you could need (dishwasher is a little dated, but works ok). Very comfy beds, excellent bathrooms - both showers great. All in all, a very high standard for a very reasonable price.

Askham Village is a delightful village and the local store very obliging. Brook Cottage proved excellent, well presented, very clean and with a nice touch by the welcoming gift that was provided. Location wise the cottage was ideally positioned within easy reach of many surrounding places as well as Keswick. From an eating out point of view, the Queens Head in the local village called TIRRIL, was fantastic with great food, drink choice and very friendly service. Highly recommended. If I was to make any comment about the cottage was that to get to the ground floor shower and toilet facility from the ground floor bedroom via the kitchen was not exactly ideal.

Perfect location with lots of walking nearby, a fantastic village store, two pubs, castle and gardens. Cottage is superbly equipped with high quality furnishings, crockery, cutlery etc. Master bedroom and bathroom are really comfortable. The second bedroom is rather small for two adults, but still adequate. Wet room has its pros and cons, being off the kitchen. Generous “welcome” wine and nibbles - thank you landlords! Overall, one of the best cottages we have stayed in. Really looking forward to another visit.

Totally awesome 2 bedroom cottage in a very pretty but small village in the northern Lake District. Bit tricky to find but otherwise fantastic. Great furnishings, wonderful living space, amazing information and guidance on the local area. Loved it.

A gem of a cottage off the beaten track. Cottage itself was very comfortable and well equipped. Some walks locally but also not far to drive to Ullswater and further afield. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
