The magnificent Fairfield Horseshoe Loughrigg and Wansfell are easily accessed form the cottage although ample opportunities for level walks are also available Rothay Park being only a two minute walk from the door. Not forgetting the plentiful shops bars and restaurants whatever time of the year you choose to visit Ambleside has something to offer everyone and benefits from being situated in the heart of the English Lake District.     3rd consecutive Christmas and new year in this property. What an amazing time had by all. Such a shame our 2 previous reviews in the property had been removed from the book. I think this was due to very small points that we mentioned in it.

    All good. Locality ideal. Small house for 6 but for 2 it works. Keys/ locks required lubrication during stay, as we were locked out. Quickly rectified by maintenance chap , whilst we waited in the pub round the corner where Thwaites IPA was sampled, very nice.

    Great cottage in a perfect location. You feel like home the moment you walk in. Very clean and very comfortable. Well equipped kitchen. Cosy beds. Directly in the city centre. Perfect for shopping, cafes and restaurants. Easy to start your hikes from here.

    Although the location was ideal we found the cottage to be unclean. There were cobwebs above the ceiling in all of the rooms The carpet looked worn out and in desperate need of replacement The small sitting area was dirty. It was definitely not value for money

    I nice property, great location, this property doesn't have off road parking, parking is in the road on a first come first served basis. The house is generally very good but needs a bit of maintenance as others have already noted in the guest book.

    Great little house and location. Perfect for what we needed. The hot water was a bit hit and miss but otherwise very happy.

    Excellent location in Ambleside and parking normally available nearby with the permit provided. Good sized accommodation although the kitchen is quite narrow. Basement with table football. However, compared to other properties this falls a little short - weak showers, unreliable hot water, broken tap and nothing to light the oven hob with. For the price I expected more.

    Perfect location just round the corner from Ambleside's shopes, cafes, crazy golf - and Zefirelli's! Stunning views of Wansfell on one side and Loughrigg on the other side from the attic bedrooms. Comfortable: 3 sofas, games, DVDs, books (including walking maps and guides) and a large window seat in one of the attic bedrooms. Very well-equipped kitchen including two different types of coffee maker and even a couple of large thermos flasks for chilly walks. Cosy, warm, quiet, surprisingly spacious and parking worked well (2 parking permits). Only gripes: water was too lukewarm for a bath (though showers excellent), and no towels or wifi (though this is clear when you book).
