The largest inland marina in Europe is just 4 miles away at Willington Mercia House not to mention Donnington race track which houses the Grand Prix collection in the museum and hosts major motor cycling and racing events as well as the yearly Download Festival. Ideally situated on the edge of the National Forest you are given access to a wealth of beautiful countryside suitable for walking bird watching cycling and dog walking. Travel a little further and you are in the Peak District with Chatsworth House and the historic towns of Bakewell Matlock and Matlock Bath where there is a plethora of things for people of all ages to enjoy. After a day exploring you can venture back to Melbourne with its wealth of pubs and restaurants an amazing array of independent shops and fabulous architectural properties to enjoy.     This lovely Cottage 'Broomhills' in our opinion was totally amazing...fab hot tub smashing bubbles ...relaxing...and after reading previous reviews we were beginning to feel unsure about why we had booked it...to late to cancel without loosing a lot of money...we decided to carry on and look forward to our weekend!! This cottage was amazingly fully equipped with all kitchen amenities to use.. full cupboards with all the plates you would need to use & cutlery like we would have at home...dishwasher, which we didn't have to use...but could have if we wanted to! The Owner was great, very friendly & helpful guy.... Televisions in every room! This cottage was in a field away from any other holiday homes...very quiet & totally PRIVATE!! Everything was very clean....bedding immaculate...shower in brilliant working order & condition..

    I would definitely book broomhills again location perfect but cleanliness should be addressed cleaniness in house not great bathroom etc and hot tub cleaniness really bad sides of hot tub filthy and water clearly not changed

    Beautiful place and location, owner very friendly. Unfortunately the cleaner hadn’t been thorough prior to our visit, underwear found in the bedroom, we had to clean the oven also. Disappointed the hot tub wasn’t working properly either, we searched for a place with a hot tub so disappointed we haven’t been offered any money back. On the plus side though, lovely location and cottage but these few bits made it a bit disappointing but wasn’t going to let it ruin our Christmas and to be fair I should of read the reviews before booking

    Absolutely fantastic weekend at Broomhills. A lovely location with the house sat back around 1/2 mile from the main road. The house was spotless and very homely. Hot tub is brilliant and has an inbuilt speaker. Will definitely be going back in the summer.

    Very disappointed with broomhills. Went there last year was the perfect place to celebrate my fiancée birthday with hot tub and stunning views. This year hot tub was not working from when we got there TIL the end of our 3 days . The hot tub looked very dirty like it hadn’t been checked and cleaned on the morning of our arrival.. The overall cleanliness wasn’t good!! At all Also last year the fire in the lounge area wasn’t working..... this year still not working All in all very disappointed with the whole weekend and will not be returning Please look at other feedback about the hot tub working and cleanliness wish I’d have read before booking broomhills

    Really lovely cottage, fantastic location. We really enjoyed our stay and there's lots of space for the kids. The hot tub was fantastic and there was no issues at all during our stay.

    On The Plus Side: The cottage is beautiful and sits in an open landscape surrounded by fields. The double bifold doors are a real wow factor! On the Down Side: The reason we went with this cottage and paid the extra money over and above similar cottages was the onsite facilities. Unfortunately the Hot Tub hadn't been cleaned and despite informing the owner that it did not heat up and needing cleaning the issue was not resolved during our stay. We figured a BBQ on the last night would be a great way to finish off our last evening only to find the BBQ was in an even worse state. It had clearly not been checked on change overs and was covered in grease that had started to grow mould. it had clearly been in this state for some time. This could have been a 10/10 if the owner had resolved the issue with the hot tub and the BBQ but unfortunately we received no response from him. Very poor customer service!

    Enjoyed our stay here, but the cleanliness definitely let it down. Hot tub was very dirty, to the point where we didn’t feel comfortable using it. Bathroom had not been cleaned properly. Could be a beautiful cottage if it was cleaned to a higher standard. Disappointing considering what I paid.

    Fabulous location with large amounts of outdoor space. Undisturbed by people, as the cottage has a long, winding, private drive and a large front garden. Would highly recommend, as it’s rare to find a property with so much open space.

    Lovely setting but overpriced. Very comfortable. No instructions as to how to used various appliances, however appliances were of a high standard. Although there was a bottle of wine and a carton of milk it would have been nice to have a welcome pack particularly in view of the cost. Towels rails were dirty but otherwise accommodation was very clean. No visitors book. Car parking in Melbourne itself is difficult. Despite a few negatives would stay again as there are many places of interest within a short drive of the house

    Nice place but avoid the hot tub at all costs, we left the property 3 days ago and have all been to the doctors and been told to take antihistamines which they put down to something we have caught from the hot tub, so clearly not cleaned or maintained properly
