Stylishly furnished the living room is the heart of the house boasting an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner and oak mantle. The bright kitchen has a dining table for 4 and a door leading to the private patio. The bedrooms offer lovely crisp linen and toiletries. The cottage is just a short walk from the Whiteadder River where fishing permits are available in Duns and the quiet local roads around the cottage are great for walks or bike rides. Visit the nearby beautiful historic houses and gardens including Manderston and Paxton house or the impressive castles at Bamburgh and Alnwick. The fascinating Holy Island accessed from mainland by Lindisfarne Causeway is well worth a visit. Edinburgh is just an hour away by train from Berwick-upon-Tweed. There is a golf course at Duns and many more within the area and there is a good choice of pubs and restaurants locally. Beach 15 miles. Shop pub and restaurant 2½ miles. Very nice place. There a few small problems with devices, but nothing major. Would definitely go back.

Broomhouse Lodge was a fabulous holiday cottage and we just loved everything about it. The location was excellent, close enough to the village of Duns to be convenient but far enough off the beaten track to be quiet, peaceful & private - total bliss. The furnishings were of a very high standard and cleverly made it feel very homely but luxurious at the same time. We loved it and our dog Charlie loved the large enclosed garden. It was everything we wanted from a holiday cottage and more; cosy, comfortable, welcoming, rustic but with modern facilities. The cottage was also very well equipped and had just the right amount of luxurious little touches like Arran Aromatics toiletries to make us feel spoiled. One of the best holiday lets we've had and we will definitely be back.

Comfortable cottage with great enclosed garden for dogs.

This Cottage is in a very remote but beautiful location, it is very clean and well maintained. It has everything you need to stay and the little welcome gift was a nice surprise. It is very quiet and relaxing. You do need to have a car as it is at least 3 mile walk to the main road for public transport. All this aside we had a very restful and relaxing stay and would go back for another stay.

This is delightful hideaway in the Borders with everything you could possibly need in the cottage - and a fantastic welcome pack. It’s a great driving distance to many great beaches and walks. Loads of great sites within a reasonable distance - too - new Jim Clark museum just opened nearby. The garden is very secure for dogs - my boy loved it. This was our second visit and I’m sure we will be back again

    Lovely cottage in quiet location.

A lovely cottage, comfortable and well equipped. The private garden is a great asset.

A beautiful cottage and tastefully decorated. The bathroom has a wonderful shower and thick fluffy towels. The double bed was really comfortable, but we wished it had been a king size, which we are used to. It is really well and thoughtfully equipped and dog friendly and a fully enclosed garden made it safe for our dog, Betty. It is situated well off the beaten track on a dead end road, so virtually no traffic and extremely quiet, which suited us, but because of this you have to navigate a series of narrow lanes to reach the main roads. The cottage was difficult to find on our arrival as the directions were not detailed enough and our Satnav did not recognise Duns and the roads are all unnamed. But we were glad we chose and found it and we would go again.

Overall we enjoyed our week at Broomhouse Lodge, would suggest blinds on the rest of the windows upstairs, just to cut out the early morning sun, the location was great for us, the cottage was very clean, nearest town Duns had a few shops (fine for the basics), the garden was perfect, safe & secure for anybody taking a dog, it was a perfect base for visiting the other towns/villages around the Borders.

If you are looking for rural tranquility then this is an idyllic cottage, well away from the beaten track. Beautifully clean and very well equipped and also has a fairly good wifi connection and we had good mobile coverage too. Everything you could posssibly want was provided from tea and coffee to get you started to the hoover for crumbs etc. The shower is amazing. Abundant wildlife, birds, rabbits, hares and deer can all be seen from the house and the fabulous dog secure garden Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to peace and tranquility. Very easy to travel to places such as Berwick on Tweed, Northumberland Coast, Edinburgh etc.

Excellent cottage just a bit remote for us , but great for relaxing.

    out of 10

The cottage was a little too remote for us and we were disappointed that the advertised welcome pack was not there, as this meant a journey back out in the car after a 5 hour trip. We didn't receive the slipper or robes either, also advertised and when we enquired the caretaker told us that the owner has stopped doing all three! So please you need to remove it from your advert. The bin had not been emptied and smelt as it was from the last guests 2 weeks before. Rant aside, the cottage was peaceful and the dog loved the enclosed garden with the visiting rabbits. The main bedroom would benefit from blackout blinds, however the bed was comfy and decorated tastefully. The kitchen was well equipped.
