    Comfort and Equipment

As before, all was as expected. We were not entirely sure why the fire, even when burning away happily, did not really heat the room. We love this part of the country and Buckshead is a great location for walks wihtout needing to drive, but also those a bit further away.

Fabulous cottage, secluded and private. A proper break from the mundane. Well recommended.

Lovely cottage great for peace and quiet and total escape from modern life

We rented taking account of the photos shown on the Cottages website. However the gardens were very overgrown. There was no internet and intermittent TV which should be explained on the website. Plenty of visitor guides but no guest book of comments and no house guide in relation to how to use the equipment within the cottage.

Lovely stay in the cottage just big enough for 2 couples. We were blessed with the Easter weather so spent all day and all evening outside. It was lovely having breakfast in the sunshine. We visited during lambing season so we’re surrounded by sheep which kept us entertained. Also the nesting birds were fun to watch. Went for a lovely hike around the countryside using the maps provided. It is such a peaceful retreat away from the rat race of busy life, everything seemed to slow down. (The only downside was that we still had signal and internet!) Would stay again!

We stayed here for 3 days over New Year 2018 and had a superb time. The cottage is gorgeous and just what we were looking for to get away from the rat-race and back into the country. The owners were very available in advance of our stay to answer all of my questions and gave us a lovely warm welcome. The kitchen is very well equipped and had everything we needed to prepare a roast meal for 4 people. I really feel the cold but was surprised how comfortable I felt staying there - we made sure the fire was going in the evenings and the hot water bottle kept me warm enough as I got into bed. As long as people are aware that it can get cold and dress/prepare appropriately it's absolutely fine. The cottage is very remote which is part of its charm and we enjoyed driving out to Bishops Castle for food shopping and to enjoy a local pub. Mobile phone reception isn't very good but that wasn't a problem for us and the GPS got us there very easily. We loved going up to the farm to meet Trevor and his wife and got to handle cute piglets! We would highly recommend the cottage and hope to visit during the summer to be able to do some of the lovely walks that we spotted on the many OS maps that the owners have kindly made available to use while staying.

Great stay at the cottage. Paul and Julie could not have been more helpful, especially when we locked ourselves out! Totally our fault. As it was a particularly cold, wet week, the hot bottles came in useful, as did the extra fleeces, but that did not deter from enjoying the log burner along with roasted chestnuts and the mulled wine. We completed a 10 mile walk on a dry day, directly from the cottage, along lovely countryside and although quite steep in places, even I, as a non walker, managed it with a few stops. Make sure you visit Ludlow and the castle which was excellent value, along with a trip to the coast at Aberdovey. Next time we will make sure we visit the red kite sanctuary, which we missed because it was closed on the later part of our stay but managed to see some on the walk. Great cottage to get way from the hustle and bustle and don't forget to buy the lovely meat and eggs from the farm to take home. Enjoy the quiet and the stars

We went for a nice relaxing weekend, and that's what you get at this cottage. Peaceful, away from everything, great views but you do need to travel for shops etc. We loved it here and would definitely come back. The games room was also brilliant for our 7 year old.

    My favourite little getaway

A lovely cottage, with a well equipped kitchen and lounge and two bedrooms. It is well away from the main farmhouse, and it is hard to spot any other civilisation even with its sweeping views of the countryside. It is an eco cottage with no mains electricity - it is instead supplied from a wind turbine and has batteries as a backup, as well as a petrol generator for windless days. It doesn't have any high consumption items, even the kettle is heated on the gas hob. The heating is from a woodburning stove which was lit when i arrived. It burns logs fast, they need replacing every 30 mins or so, but there is a large store outside, though these are exposed and some were wet or damp. It was really hard to light the fire when it went out - it took a lot of time feeding it with newspaper and twigs and I think the logs were damp which didn't help - a lesson on how to do it better would have been helpful. The instructions on how to use the three levers and knob on the fire differed between a) what the owner said, b) what the instructions in the manual said, and c) what other guest comments said... Some consistency would be very helpful. It is the only source of heat and as it goes out an hour after being fed, it could get very cold indoors at night if the weather was cold.

    Lovely get away.

A perfect place with a terrific view! Wake up in the morning and see the sun rise above the hills right from your bed. Knowing that your own private windmill is making energy for you, while the sunboiler has heated your water for a shower. Lighting fire in your Hearth. It was a happy time.
